UKMIL Blackburn Buccaneer Nose Gear

Postby napamule » Thu Nov 23, 2017 10:22 pm

The UKMIL Buccaneer model was uploaded 17Nov21 by Phillipe Wallert. The nose gear was bad. Here is the video showing the mods. They were really 'off'. The 'fix' is in the prior post (FSX Forum). Hope this can be used by someone. Happy Thanksgiving.

Many thanks for the feedback and video.

Thanks also for the fix. I will add it and re-upload the file.

You are welcome. But, there are a couple of things you need to change in air file. One is 'braking strength'. If you make it negative (-32768) brakes work better. And the spoiler does not have sufficient drag. Spoiler drag should be '1024' and not '240' (or whatever it is). If you could make those tweaks there would be better braking. Thanks.

Ha. I fixed this and there is NO CREDIT given? Without this fix the ac was useless. Unless you slew into the air for a 'take off'. And quit while in the air. Gosh. We 'mechanics' work just as hard as the modelers. I have spent a gillions of hours on learning FDEs so I did not get this 'fix' out of any book (there ISN'T one) or copied off another ac. This fix is peculiar and radical and applys ONLY to this model. Taking my work and uploading it makes UKMIL look good but it leaves me feeling like a fool. Thanks a lot for that.

Pete,
Your are welcome. The compression for nose wheel was not so easy but I prevailed (with trial & error). The brakes can be '=1.000' as the air got brake strength 'increased' (effectively). And the spoiler drag can be '=1024' in air. That is plenty to stop on carrier without tail hook IF you come in full flaps and +4.000 of pitch trim. Glad you guys liked the mods.

Greetings,

I just installed the Buccaneer this evening and tried it out. For some reason I am not getting engine sound in my model. I searched the sound files and everything seems in place. I also looked at the download description and it states a new sound file was created. Is anyone else having this problem?

I used the sound pack for SAAB Viggen by Per Bjorkqvist (is at FltSimCom, 'viggensn.zip', 5.8 Mb). Hard to come by good sound files anymore. This one is really good. Not sure why the sound did not work. If it works - good. If it don't - get another one. Life is too short to qwibble.

Yea I had that no sound problem. I just downloaded a Vulcan soundset from simv and installed that instead. It works although I cannot hear the callouts anymore. Maybe I need to edit a few lines of sound.cfg?

Well I am glad its not just me! I spent a while going over the config and sound files trying to trouble shoot the problem. I will go grab 'viggensn.zip' and give it a try.

Thanks!

You can also alias the sound to any A/C you have in the game, for instance, I have a C-47 I d/led from somewhere that didn't have a good sound file so I aliased it to the stock DC-3. You just have to make a file like this:

[fltsim]
alias=Douglas_DC3\sound

Type exactly as shown and type in any a/c exactly as it shows in the game. I think the a/c also has to have its own sound files. I don't think you can alias a plane that is already aliased to another plane. You can even make your props sound like jets or vice-versa, if your into that kind of thing, lol.
Some d/l's come without its own sound as a way of keeping the size down, but they're usually aliased to a stock plane in the game.
At least I think that's how it works

Are you sure you have the current updated version?

It has sounds and I've just double checked and I hear jet engine!
