Those are interference patters due to the texture. You might want to experiment with the anti-aliasing in the graphics settings.

In fact, FSX has nothing to do with this problem.
The problem is about your AntiAliasing settings in the video drivers.

Which video card do you have in your computer ?
Also, in that last screenshot, the AntiAliasing is completely disabled, making the picture look terrible.
Are you using FSX in DX9 mode, or did you activate the DX10 Preview option in the sim ?

thanks for your response.....using.....MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G 6GB ...using dx9.....10 doesn't work well......antialiasing is on in game...

i used to use nvidia inspector in the old but not too old days as laid out by nick n which recommended adjusting antialiasing from there rather than the video game.........but with the new computers, is it still the way to go?....i downloaded and tried one, but fsx wasn't even on the list and couldn't find antialiasing adjustment.....if so, i wonder which to use, and i what settings are applied to the improved software and hardware.....of course i'm displaying my limited mental resources here :) and will this make any improvements to my poor ford trimotor? :)

Well, I'd say that yes, NVidia Inspector (NVI) is still the way to go, somehow.
NVI will propose you much more choices than the regular NVidia Control Panel when it comes to the antialiasing modes.

I would recommend you the following settings:

1- In the sim:
- Ensure the antialiasing flag is set (should already be like that, from what you wrote)

2- In NVI:
- Select the FSX profile
- Ensure the two settings related to "transparency" antialiasing is set to OFF or disabled
- Ensure the texture filtering is set to "quality" or "best quality"
- Set the antialiasing "behavior" setting (somewhere at the beginning of the settings list) to "none"
- Set the antialiasing "mode" to "replace application settings"
- Set the antialiasing "setting" to "8xSQ" for a first test (it will give a smoother picture, with less flickering/jaggies, but also a little lack of "crisp"....)
- Click on "Apply Changes" green button in the top right corner of the NVI profile edition window

3- In Windows:
- Navigate to the folder c:\user\your name\appdata\Local\Microsot\FSX\Shaders
- Delete all of the files/folders you see in there (they will be recreated next time the sim is launched)
- Launch FSX with "run as an administrator" (right click, or alter the shortcut properties...)

You should see some changes. Let me know if you need more details.

so if i type flight simulator x in the profile....will it store it, even though it's not on the list? anyways, i did what you said whether inspector saved it or not i don't know.....checked the trimotor in fsx.....oh...had it set on trilinear...and it was just as bad...but....when it changed to anistropic.....it looked quite good.....so i think were ok now....thanks mucho.....

FSX default profile in NInspector is: "Microsoft Flight Simulator 10"

Then add the changes suggested by Daube.
