No activation wizard for Acceleration Pack

For various reasons I needed to reinstall Windows 10 the other day. I installed FSX base pack as usual, and activated it no problem. Installed the Acceleration Pack, and when I went to start it the first time, I got an error instead of the activation wizard. The error code is 1-80004005. I found info on this on the Internet, and tried what was suggested without success. I contacted Microsoft, and they pointed me to the exact same instructions/solution that I'd previously tried, unsuccessfully. I will be re-contacting MS for support, however I am posting this here to see if anyone else is experiencing this. Prior to MS's Windows 10 Anniversary Update, activation always worked as expected. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

hi thingfish
I have the same problem, when i install acceleration it does not request the activation code, got the same error code. as far as i can see windows 10 is absolute crap, if i change aircraft, change time and date,move aircraft to another location, or change any settings fsx stops working, never had any problems with windows 7

Does your "base pack" include SP1 and SP2? If so, I think you will have to remove SP2 in order to install acceleration.

Hi All,

Try the following:

1. run regedit (Windowskey +R)
2. Expand the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTRO L\CLASS\{4D36E967-
E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. After you find the folder, double-click Upperfilters on the right side.
4. Change the value from 0 to PartMgr and/or remove any other settings and then click OK.
5. Close Registry Editor
6. Start FSX/Accel and you should get the registration wizard.

Just one reminder guys (which shouldn’t really need saying), back up the registry before you start frigging around with it. You can do some serious damage if you get it wrong! :(

I for one would not alter the registry at all as this can cause a major problem and you might have to completely reinstall your windows.
If you mess up the registry to much when you go to restart your system you could get unable to boot windows and than you will not have any other option but to reinstall Windows and god help you if you do not own a copy of it.
I do not see where backing up your registry will do any good if your system will not boot how to you plan on restoring it???? with no operating system this will be impossible.
Bottom line do not mess with your registry unless you know what you are doing.

Tried that. Didn't do a thing. This is what MS told me to do, too.

Hi thingfish,

If I remember correctly, I had to also check entries in:

registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CONTROLSET001\CONTROL\CLASS\{4D36E967-
E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

and

registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CONTROLSET002\CONTROL\CLASS\{4D36E967-
E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

regards
