What are the key commands to cage and uncage the HUD in Dino's F-14D? What are the flying situations that dictate whether the HUD should be caged or not?

Thanks a bunch!

When it comes to key assignments there are no set standards. So someone might use crtl + X and someone else could use crtl + Z.
However I suggest you assign your choice to either the tail hook or the cargo doors. I am not aware of any key sequence that will work for everyone unless it was built into the airplane at the time it was made.
Myself I use crtl X for tail hook and crtl Z for cargo doors. But like I said there is no assigned key stroke for any thing other than Crtl P for push back and a few others
And if the HUD was not animated at the time the airplane was created you are out of luck. Things like cargo doors and landing gear to name a few have to be part of the original model and if it was not made that way you are out of luck.
Some of the problems of freeware aircraft. It depends on how good the original person was at making aircraft.

I'm going to go out on a limb here...you don't know who Dino Cattaneo is....
and you don't normally sim with military types...

CAGE/UNCAGE the HUD is accessed through the MFD-HUD option page.

The reason to CAGE a HUD is to stop the FPV circle from drifting off center of the HUD display. For instance if you were landing in a cross wind, and you are tracking on a crab angle. You might not want the FPV to track away from the center of the HUD. CAGED mode keeps everything steady and centered in your HUD.

Hope that helps
