Top of the day to all. I just bought a new machine (ASUS ROG G20) windows 10. My flight simulator x gold edition keep crashing while flying around.
is there any thing that I need to do. Thanks in advance for any help.

That's kind of a loaded question isn't it?! For the last 10 years people have been asking the same question. There are soooo many things that can screw with FSX. Trying to point you in the right direction with no details is pointless. There's a couple quick fixes you could try though. Remember to back up any file you mess around with BEFORE you mess around with it.
Have you added any tweaks to the cfg file yet? Try the highmem tweak, the multithreading tweak, and be sure you cfg file has an entry for your GPU. Google it, because these tweaks to maximize the use of your machine have been explained a million time in just as many we sites and forums.

Also, there is a Uiautomationcore.dll fix that you might want to try.

Sorry to hear about your problems. As pegger says, it is difficult to come up with an all-embracing solution that will cure the myriad of possible causes. I would suggest keeping an eye on viewtopic.php?f=21&t=175667. as flyskyhy is having crash problems as well. If one of you finds the problem, it may help the other one.

I almost hate to say this because of the arguments it almost always creates. But did you install FSX in the default location. Before any one hollers I know that there is a way around the permission problems with Windows 10, but to me it is so much easier to install any place other than the default location.
The problem is you just never know what addon you put in FSX will create a problem all because of the permission issue. Why go through all of that hassle when all you have to do is to install FSX outside of the PROGRAM FILES folder.

Now mind you I doubt if this is all or any of the reasons why your FSX is crashing but it can not hurt

The first thing I would do is right after FSX crashes check the system event viewer and find out what the error message is and let us know
To find the event viewer in windows just type the word event where Cortana is The window that is to the right of the windows 10 logo in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Than select event viewer than select applications and look for Microsoft.The line you are looking foe will be close to if not at the top of the list. It will tell you what failed.

Gary beat me to it. Users rights account can easily be the problem, especially, on a new system.

As he said, there are ways to get around it, but it'd be worth your time to just reinstall FSX in another directory.


People are probably sick of hearing me say this, but solid state drives are getting very cheap. You can get a 240GB for less than $60. For most people that will hold all of your FSX files for several years if used ONLY for FSX/P3d, and even the slowest SSD will be faster than your most hard drives.

That'll avoid the UAC problem, and speed up your flight sim in several ways.


BTW - the directory "Program Files (x86)" is only a special directory on the C: drive.

If you use the same name : Program Files (x86) on a different drive, not only will you gain the speed advantage of the SSD, you'll also find that simply using two drives, even if they are both regular hard drives, will speed up your flight sim.

And if you use the same folder name on the new drive, "D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\", then when you need to run install programs, all that you have to do is to change one letter - the C to a D.


PS - I just checked my 2-3 year old flight sim drive.
