FSX PROBLEMS

Steam have done a first class job of hiding the configuration settings. If you go for CFG it is invisible. A lot of the things you want to change are hidden very well. The particular thing that I want to get to is to stop FSX crashing when you want to change something on the menu bar at the top. This is particularly annoying. Also the size of the Free Flight setting screen is as someone else has said like an optician' eye test. Please tell me how I can get out of these issues and enjoy it.

Thanks

Steam hasn't done anything to that, everything is still identical to the retail FSX version.
Concerning your crashes upon clicking on menus, I don't know what is causing them on the Steam version. In fact, I thought they happened only with the retail version...
Concerning the free flight settings, I don't have any problems with the size, excepted if I activate the DSR in the video card drivers.
What is your current screen resolution ?

Do you have the show hidden folders checked in the folder options menu?
I was one of the people who beta tested FSX STEAM so there is no difference between this and the boxed version other than the fact that Steam had to make some minor changes so it could run on there servers.
I am not sure what it is you are trying to do here.

The fsx.CFG file for fsx-SE is in;

Users>your name>AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>fsx.

You can make any changes there.

If you can't see that then most likely you don't have "see hidden files" enabled in your folder options.
