Piper Arrow Glass Cockpit Add-on

Gudday all - I am pretty new to the Sim world an not 100% on computers either but usually bluff my way through.

I now have the Piper Arrow Glass cockpit add-on from this site. I placed all the contents of the download into the Microsoft Flight Simulator file (FSX) and the aircraft does not come up as an optional aircraft.

Have I missed something or is there something else I have to do?

Regards

Geoff

Panels are a perennial problem in fsx. I have found that trying to insert a glass cockpit is very difficult. It really depends on your aircraft setup.
If there is no interior model (usually a 3rd entry), you will not get a 3D cockpit. There are some 2D replacement cockpits to try:
- Cessna 310Q 2D panel, panel FP (not glass) or
- 2D panel for Cessna C208 Caravan 2006 by Pierre FASSEAUX

There is a huge selection of panels at http://simviation.com/1/browse-Panels-60-0

Often, you have to wing it with multiple panels to try and find one that works. For example, I had to try 8 different panels to get a decent one in the A330
Thomas Cook.

Good luck.

Are you talking about the Turbo Arrow IV with G1000 cockpit Airplane package, or just the cockpit itself?

I have the Piper Arrow II already and was just after the Glass Cockpit Version. The Arrow II was a free add-on.

Hi Geoff. It's not clear which file you're having problems with.
Is this the one you're talking about? http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=PiperTurboArrowIVG1K.zip&categoryId=&filename=Y

Right. I think I see the problem.

All freeware downloads will vary to some extent depending on the experience & preferences of the person configuring them. This one is configured like the FSX root directory with sub-folders named Effects, Gauges & SimObjects. This is intended to make installation easier & once you're familiar with the principle no instructions are necessary.

Here's a shot of the extracted file in Windows Explorer.

Note that the "aircraft container" folder you need to install to FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes is the one named Piper Turbo Arrow IV-G1K hidden deep inside the extracted folder in the Simobjects\Airplanes sub-folder. That's the highlighted folder in my shot.
You should also paste the contents of the Effects & Gauges sub-folders into their corresponding folders in FSX.

Please try it & tell me if that fixed it.

Thanks for the help.

I am not able to identify that particular file. I have opened all the files and cannot see that particular one.

I'm not sure how to explain it any more clearly. Let's start from the beginning.

Is this the first time you've attempted to manually install anything to FSX?
Can you find the yellow folder named Airplanes in your FSX root directory? This is where all your default aircraft live.
Look in the yellow folder named SimObjects.

Note: My FSX root directory folder is named FSX as it's not in the default location. Yours will be "Microsoft Flight Simulator X"
