unknown problem

Hey, guys,
This may sound strange, but for nearly the past year, several of my aircraft add-ons on my Flight Simulator X have been suffering from an unusual problem sound-wise. This problem started in mid-July last year, when I tried to do a system restore of my computer/update a graphics driver (this was my previous Windows 7 machine; I just got a new device last month with the same operating system as my previous one). However, I don’t think that is related to the problem I am having. And that leaves me clueless as to what I should do to fix this issue, let alone locate the source of what is causing it. Just to give you an overview of what I have had to put up with until this noise has finally gotten on my last good nerve:
At times, while I am doing a flight in different aircraft (mostly jet planes), I have been hearing this annoying, repetitive clicking sound of the flap lever from one of my other add-on aircraft (which in this case is the ATR-42 in the Delta Connection livery). This usually happens when I am on the ground (taxiing prior to takeoff/after landing or while parked at the gate; occasionally has occurred when coming in to land at an airport; never happens when I am at cruise altitude; in addition, I have been hearing this sound on some of my aircraft while taxiing to a specific area of Atlanta’s airport in FSX). This noise (once it starts) usually loops itself approximately 4-10 times for up to 30 seconds. I have tried:
1. Removing what I thought was the problem file from the FSX main sound folder (afgys_flap.wav). This didn’t work.
2. Looking at my other aircrafts’ sound cfg. files (nothing appeared out of the ordinary)
3. Looking in my aircrafts’ sound folders (nothing wrong there either)
4. After having to reinstall FSX on my recently purchased Windows 7 SSD (solid state drive) computer, I am still having this issue with most of my aircraft, including one of the default jets.
If anybody else has been having this problem, has heard of this issue, and knows if there is a simple way to fix this, let me know. I spent several days restoring my flight simulator add-ons after purchasing this new machine, and I don’t want to have to install FSX again.

Sorry about the late reply but I was out of town and had no PC. One thing you can do is to check the effected planes sound files, You can click on each file and listen to what sounds it is making once you find the file that is making the noise you than have to find out why it is repeating.
One other thing to check is to make sure that there are no sound files in the main FSX Sound folder that should not be there.
Make sure you play the sounds inside of the Sound folder of the FSX main folder.
What you are more than likely hearing is the result of a downloaded plane. I hope you have not downloaded any aircraft directly into the FSX folder.
If you do this the files may not get put where they belong.
If you are still unable to solve the problem about the only thing left is to uninstall and reinstall. I would save all of your scenery files but do not save any aircraft files as you do not know what files are good.
Once you have reinstalled FSX and before you do anyting make sure the default air craft work correctly and that the sound is gone.
Once satisfied start putting things back on plane at a time and make sure it goes to where it belongs and check after each install to make sure the sound is not back.

Sorry for double posting. Just wanted to let you know that the problem I was having earlier is solved. Haven't heard any trace of that annoying sound on my flight simulator that I was talking about earlier. I looked in the FSX main sound folder and discovered a lot of files that didn't belong there, including the file that was making that annoying sound on certain flights I was doing on FSX. I removed it, along with many others that didn't belong, and problem solved. :D

There you go glad you fixed the problem. The best thing to do is to download anything into a folder outside of FSX. than put the files where they belong.
Also be leery of any freeware that has a self installer as they all do nt put the files where they belong. <<t
