Problem with FSX Acceleration Expansion Pak

Postby Archive1 » Fri May 20, 2016 11:45 am

Upgraded to new computer (Win 7 for now until things are settled and then later will switch to Win10) and tried clean install of original FSX CD - no problem. Then tried install of Acceleration as used before without difficulty. Have gotten message that my version is "Trial" and Microsoft does not recognize User ID alpha numeric and that I need to phone some MS SDK support number. Program shut down last night saying "I'd used up all my trial time"!

Keep in mind this is a righteous, purchased, full version of the expansion pak that has worked seamlessly before. Phoned 'Support' - and get message that MS does not recognize any product associated with long, long (9x5 unit alpha numeric ) ID code in the box with Acceleration. Am at a loss on what to do. Don't find any MS support on-line dedicated to FSX or the Accel expansion pak - everything seem related to XBox.

The last time I activated FSX GOLD I had to use the Freephone number its a bit long winded and takes about ten minutes. You need the number displayed on your screen when you try and activate accel on line, this is the number the automated service asks for. Make sure you have a pen and paper handy and recheck the numbers at the end of the sequence. Its a tedious process but it does work. You will need to activate fsx first and then Accel I had to do both through the phone method but once you have done it the first time you know what to expect the second time round.

The activate by phone option gives you the Tel number TOLL and Freephone number and boxes for the code you are given. the number you are asked for is the long number at the top.

GEEZI remember the time I had installed on my Win 7 machine out here on the Rez with no internet. I had to install Gold and write down the number That I had to read to them, drive 2.5 miles to get cell service out by the canyon write down my activation number drive back to house punch it in install acceleration disc and repeat...what a PITA that was.

Dave T and Az:
I'm going to try the 'clean install' that is recommended in another post. And see what happens. I also downloaded the two FSX upgrades that are incorporated in Accel, so I may be able to do a separate go-around. I really don't care about the added stuff from Accel (missions, aircraft) - I just want to have any upgrades that are included for FSX so 3rd party products install correctly.

Yeah, I went through all the tel phone bit and did slowly talk-in that humongous ID number - that's when I was told..."it don't exist."
So here I am.
Thanks for the reply.
Will try to move on with a clean install and then...what?
