I just got a CH Products yoke and I'm try to setup the buttons etc on it. I'm trying to find out how to use a button to bring up the gps on the screen when flying but I can't find the command to do it in fsx settings. On the keyboard you just use Shift 3 to bring it up. But I cannot set up a button on my yoke to do it. Does anyone know how to do this and share the info with me

Thanks
BOB

Not a problem so long as you remember this - not all airplanes use SHIFT 3 to popup the GPS panel.

Personally I think that it's stupid, but the GPS panel may be SHIFT 1, 2, 3, whatever.

Not to mention that some planes that should have GPS, don't. And that some planes that never had GPS, do.

Anyway, this is what you need to select for most standard MS-FSX aircraft.

My yoke is having an electrical problem right now so I used the throttle quadrant.

BTW - if you want to use the on-screen GPS without having to spend a lot of time moving your mouse around to on-screen buttons you can make this out of a very cheap numeric keypad.

I put Velcro strips on my CH Products yoke and the bottom of the keypad mount. Worked GREAT!

And another BTW - to use a numeric keypad, or ANY additional keyboards for that matter, you'll need a program called HidMacros.

Any standard USB device can also be used to send commands to FSX.

It's free, so download it now - HidMacros.

This is a simple to use program that lets us setup multiple keyboards for FSX (or X-Plane).

This program will give you the power of a programmer, but the simplicity of selecting commands from a dropdown list. Just about ALL of the built in FSX commands are available.

And if you want to program, then you can do that too.

But here is another way to open the GPS using HIDMacros. This is the same as holding the shift key and pressing 3.

Alternately you can do it this way.

And did I say that this powerful program is FREE!
