Slow frame rates for FS9 aircraft in FSX:SE

Postby C » Wed Jan 27, 2016 1:31 pm

First of all, I'm not lost...

In a fit of fatherhood I've installed FSX:SE, and went about searching the ether for all my old FS9/X pay ware downloads, the last of which must've been bought 8 or so years ago. Most have gone in quite nicely with a few fixes here and there, but a common theme is I get a low frame rate with them. FSX aircraft and dedicated FSX add ons are averaging 30-40fps, but FS2004 models (even thos updated formally for FSX) struggle to get above 11 or 12fps.

Anyone know what causes this and can anything be done about it?

(If all else fails I'll track down FS9 disk 4 and reinstall that too!)

If I had to guess i would say it is the fact that the aircraft was meant for FS9. The differences if I am not mistaken or the Textures or the visual effects. I suggest that you check where the textures are coming from.
But this much I do know anytime you try to run something meant fro one version of software and force it to run on a newer version it is usually slows it down. I do not know of any fix for this kind of problem other than to find a replacement that was made for FSX.

Thanks Gary. That's what I'd figured, as it was happening with "updated" FSX models too. I've bitten the bullet and culled quite a few and upgraded a couple of the pay ware ones?
