ACG Duxford scenery FSX

Postby whirlwind 10 » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:33 am

Hi
I have just down loaded the Airfield Construction Groups FSX Duxford scenery , normally I would have contacted them but they have closed the hanger doors and shut up shop. When I try to install the Duxford scenery into FSX I get the following message.

ACGs IWM Duxford FSX has not been totally installed because of the following reason.

Cannot create the following file

c\program files(x86)Microsoft games\Microsoft flight simulator x \uninstall_ acg _ iwm_duxford_ fsx.$$a

you will have to run the utility again to completely install acgs iwm Duxford fsx-

Operating system Windows7 64 bit

I have spent the last two days trying to fix this but I am suffering from TMD (to many Birthdays)and getting now where fast help required!
Kind regards
Richard woodard

You can come to my house to cool off. It's currently (minus) -39C in western Minnesota. Ha-Ha!!

Back to the Duxford scenery . I completely removed all files to do with ACG Duxford , I re downloaded the Duxford files the original not the 2013 update and put the files into FSX and the Duxford aircraft AI files . When I open Duxford in FSX the airfield is there, but all the buildings are solid black. The AI Aircraft are all there except the last three before the USAF hanger which are solid black the last a/c is a BAC 111 which should be a Handly Page Herald . the BAC 111 is part of the ACG 2013 update file . it would appear I some how have some kind of file contamination . I have looked in Start /Search and all seems normal I can find nothing that would explain this solid black buildings issue ,any ideas.

uninstall duxford using windows 7 click on windows icon, click control panel, uninstall a program ACG's IWM Duxford Ai pack Fsx and ACG's IWm Duxford FSX should be listed uninstall and try again. Its probably because some textures are missing or your computer might be struggling try turning some of the scenery settings down first. My ACG IWM Duxford texture folder is 86.3mb and contains 130 items.

What are the specs of your computer and do the textures eventually appear?

You'd have plenty of company in the "I Hate Winter Club". My California bred wife is a charter member. That's very interesting news about your birth place. Did you ever roam around the airfield grounds or did you move away before you were old enough to go off on such adventures? A side note on my choice of signatures. The P-51B shown is G4-H. You won't find that texture anywhere on the sim sites as I took a different one and modified it. I built a 1/32 scale model of G4-H back in 1980 and it won a few model contests including one "Best Of Show". I still have the model although it needs the landing gear and flaps reinstalled. Quite a story behind the build of that kit. It was built at sea aboard an aircraft carrier 3,000 miles from home.

I'm no expert on this stuff by any means but I wonder if the files were good to start with. I have the Duxford scenery and it works fine and I have a "middle of the road" system. I downloaded it quite a while ago from the ACG site and also did the airshow update too. I still have the files.
QUESTION: You said the buildings are all black but what about the rest of the scenery such as the aircraft, spectators and other scenery objects?

I deleted Duxford and installed using the fsx file from Simviation http://simviation.com/1/download-file?f ... leId=38397 and everything is working no problems, I tried different settings for scenery and the building textures displayed properly. In the scenery library is ACG IWM Duxford Airshow Addon above the ACG IWM duxford scenery and does it display normally if you uncheck the airshow addon entry?

I've just downloaded & installed the above scenery. It works fine in FSX on my standard laptop - although it is very graphics intensive & some of the static aircraft textures take a while to load. (This first shot was taken before I activated the airshow addon.)

I also tried the ACG 2013 update which works just as well. It's an excellent piece of work IMHO.
