problem with map after windows 10 upgrade

Hi all,

FSX seems to be working ok after the upgrade to 10 but the only issue is the map not showing up. when I hit the map button on the panel or select it with a keyboard command it just goes to a black screen with the mouse arrow cursor. I can ESC out of it back to the panel view. Weird thing is after I select map and it goes to the black screen, if I CTL+ALT+DEL and go to task manager and select Microsoft Flight Sim, the map shows up briefly, but then disappears. So it's like it is there when I select it, just hidden behind the black screen window or something. Any ideas/help to make it show up would be appreciated.

Fraternally Yours...

-Sean

I wish I had the answer to this question. It happened to me too and it was most frustrating. Same thing with some of the virtual cockpits but I solved that by shifting the view. The map problem solved itself one day, although it took a while. I had gone to the kitchen for a glass of water and when I got back to my seat . . . voila! Don't ask me what I did, I haven't a clue but it's there now.

I don't have a clue as to why, but in order for the map (and change planes and other views) window to work properly, you must be in the default view, not the full screen view. It took me a while to figure out what was happening, and once I did, I found the system to work flawlessly. I can change to full screen when flying, and return to default view when I have to check the map or get frequencies etc. To be sure, it is a pain in the you know, but I'm flying, so I guess I don't really mind it so much. Good luck, happy flying <<s

Switching out of full screen works like a charm. Not a complete fix but, having to ALT+Enter is way better than no map at all. Thanks guys!!
