GPSNEW V5

Postby samrong01 » Wed Dec 23, 2015 3:56 am

Recently I did a substantial amount of work writing on Wikipedia and received nothing but abuse and hostility in return from their "senior editor". I raise this because of the contrast with the Flight Sim community where I have really appreciated the expressions of thanks and gratitude for my GPSNEW gauge which many people have communicated. Even those who found flaws were nevertheless very appreciative. As a result of my recent experience I have decided to do a new version with what is hopefully the only remaining missing function: selection of Approach transition. This is not a trivial function and results in a fairly crowded screen but seems to work OK so far. I also have to fix the wind arrow which is backwards. If anyone can think of other functions that are missing please advise before the release which should be in a week or so.

Your GPS is a real piece of artwork, i love it.
The only thing I can think of is next to ai aircraft is showing ai boats. This give the opportunity to do some rescue missions on ferries and other vessels in distress.

Anyway thanks for this gauge.

It may be possible to make boats to appear on radar by a modification to the boat but I do not know how this is done. If it is possible then no modification is needed to the gauge to see them.

from the beginning I thought this gauge was great and demonstrated true talent on behalf of the contributor. Without these people this could be a very expensive past time, thanks again to all of you

I'm sure I speak for most simmers here at Simviation when I say your GPS is an amazing bit of work.
Wish it had come about years ago, but it's here now, and I love it !
A very merry Christmas to you my friend.

Version 5 has been released but unfortunately had a bug in the Nearest Prev Page function which did not work. I have uploaded a new version with this bug fixed but must ask all those who have already downloaded V5 to download again. Sorry for this bug - all my bugs are silly mistakes.

First, many thanks for this gauge! I think i can imagine how much work it was and all this for free!
(Anyone who makes a lot, can also make mistakes! Anyone who makes nothing, . . . . !)

About the ai boat request, someone has made a radar years ago where you can also see ai boats!
I think his trick was to sort out via script which ai objects are on sea level height (boats) and above (parked and flying ai objects),
but I have only limited experience with scripting!

Again, many thanks for your work (with or without ai boats)!

First off thank you for the different approaches, I know I asked before. however it seems like the Prev Page button does not work. once you scroll through all the pages using the Next Page button their is no way to get back using the Prev page button (I tested it on the nearby section).

Also when you select an approach then select the specific route and you need to cancel it and select another (if you made a mistake) their is no way to fully cancel it to select the new approach route. Like it i selected a transition then wanted to switch to vectors it will not let me select a new route after selecting a transition.

*********** Update I just checked the cancel function on the approach routes and seems to work ok, may have been just a bug with what i was doing. I did check the Prev Page button and that is not working.*********

Sorry I am really not trying to be a pain in the ass LOL just thought i would mention it. I do however appreciate all the hard work you have invested in this gauge. I am sure everyone agrees that this is very much appreciated in our community.

I too noticed previous page is working as described. I was uneasy to mention it after so much effort to get gauge correct. This gauge is to good not to be perfect, I use it every flight in small craft. There is so much offered in it, that the normal trail and error as it is used by many, will help you get it perfect. Please do not be discouraged.....
