Virtual Cockpit Merge

Postby B-Valvs » Sat Dec 12, 2015 4:19 pm

I'm attempting to use the virtual cockpit from one plane with another plane that has no VC. I've done this before, but it was a long time ago and I'm having some issues getting it right this time. I've looked at some older topics on how to do this, but I've been unable to solve the problem.

I'm taking the "xxxxx_Interior.mdl" file from the first plane and putting it in the model folder of the other plane. I'm then adding an "Interior=xxxxx_Interior.mdl" line to the second plane's model.cfg. I've also copied the panel and the textures associated with the VC of the first plane into the second plane's appropriate folders.

When I start FSX, the panel switch has worked, but the VC does not work and the plane no longer appears (it's just empty space where the plane should be). When I remove the "Interior=xxxxx_Interior.mdl" line from the model.cfg, the plane reappears.

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong here?

I saw your post in a cell pone and answered quickly, but reading carefully your problem it seems that you try to install a FSX VC in a FS9 plane that has not VC. Install interior models in FS9 planes is not possible, because they have a model file for all.

I can suggest this tutorial for enabling VC in aircraft that don't have it. But don´t expect miracles.

After reading his post several times, I can find no mention of FS9 aircraft, so I am going to suppose he's talking about an FSX aircraft.

I tried switching an aircraft interior just now, and one of the things that dawned on me was that the [eyepoint] section in the CFG could be screwing you up. And this is something you really can't just copy a setting from, since the eyepoint sits a certain distance from the reference datum and that is sort of arbitrarily up to the designer of the aircraft. You have to kinda just fiddle with it until it looks right.

When you start the flight with the new VC, do you look around? It's entirely possible that the whole cockpit is just behind you somewhere, or above you, or below you . . .
