FSX, Windows 10, and DirectX

Dear Simviation Community,

I've been a longtime FS user, but haven't played much recently due to college responsibilities. I recently (OK, today) reinstalled the game after about a year of not playing and I'm having some trouble... I'm running Windows 10 with the latest version of DirectX available - DirectX 12. Apparently FSX does not want to run with DirectX 12 and asks me to install DirectX 9.0... I went and downloaded DirectX 9.0 but I get an error when I try to install it saying that it is not compatible with Windows 10.

So, my question to anyone who knows is this: is it possible to run FSX in a Windows 10 environment and if so, could anyone show me how to do it?

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but reading on several forums tells me that, yes, FSX will run on Win10 but is not DX12 compatible so you will need to install DX9. Let us all know how it goes.

Hey FlexibleFlyer!

I could not figure out how to get DX9.0 to run on Windows 10, so I decided to try DX11. DX11 managed to install on my system, and FSX no longer asks me to install DX9.0, so I think I'm good! Thanks for the reply!

Cheers!
