Holy Salton Sea, Batman!

Postby Fozzer » Fri Dec 04, 2015 11:45 am

Hello, Exploratory Chums!.... :D ...!

A very big hole in the ground where the Salton Sea should be!.... :o ....!

South of Palm Springs, in the desert, California...>>>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salton_Sea

I know its a low point in the Earth's Crust, but this is ridiculous!..... ...!

The nearest Airfield to the sea is [KTRM] Jaqueline Cochran Regl, and the sea is just to the south of it.

I have FTX Global Mesh, and UT USA Mesh, and everywhere else is perfect regarding elevation, its just the Salton Sea which is leaking water at an alarming rate!

I'm sure it was OK in FS 2004, but in my present FSX its just an extremely deep hole in the ground, and I don't want to fall into it!.... ...!

I've tried unticking/rearranging the scenery order in the library, to no avail.

Anyone want to try a flight over the Salton Sea/Salton Hole to see if they experience the same problem, and maybe put the plug back into the plug-hole?.... ;) ....!

Many thanks for the heads up, Cav!...

...after uninstalling my previous Version 1 (paid for), I am now up against the usual stone-wall of Flight 1's complicated, and mostly impossible method of re-installing the Version 2 upgrade.....!

Now battling with passwords and key numbers (stored in my little paper book) to try getting the download to work....

...to no avail so far.....I may be some time!

Why Flight 1 have to make the process so bloody complicated, beats me!... ...!

Paul.....at the moment without either version 1 or 2 of UT USA!... ....!

If I am not mistaken, it appears as though UTA USA Version 2 has to be purchased all over again at full price, and is not an upgrade from version 1... ....!
I hate Flight 1!.... ...!

At the moment I have given up on getting that ridiculous Flight 1 UT USA re-installation malarkey to work....

...and fortunately, I still have my original UT USA version 1 installation.exe saved, so I have reinstalled that version again....

...and avoid going anywhere near the Salton Sea...ever again....and that includes Flight 1!

I've lost count of the number of times that I have suffered trying to get my paid-for Flight 1 programs re-installed again!

...With any other programs, you just have to download the program again, install it, insert your original Key details in the Menu, and you are away again! But not Flight 1... that's far too simple!... ...!

Yea I had installed something at one time, I think it was something from Orbix maybe, the next time I flew to shoot some carrier landings I had water falls on every ship in the fleet. I ended up uninstalling all of it, never really found out which one it was. I know I might be missing some nice stuff. Maybe I will try them again one at a time next time around.

First, why do you have to re-download? Didn't you make a backup of the first, second or third download? Or are online vendors suppose to be your backup service?

Second, with the product you are discussing the F1 wrapper unlocks the product installer, at which point it would never be required to re-download and go through the wrapper process again. That is, if you made a backup of the extracted files.

Third, the Salton Sea issue was in the very first patch put out for the product, a longggg time ago. There have been subsequent patches issued that can be found here;
https://www.scenerysolutions.com/download.php?id=2

Maybe this will help you get back to flying, rather than complaining? Of course, once you have made a proper copy or two of the installer to ensure you mustn't endure such hardship in the future...

Salton Sea back in all its glory!

Many thanks for the heads-up, Meshman!

I was advised that I needed the upgrade to "Version 2" to cure the Salton Sea problem, but Version 2 of UTX USA appears to be a later program, and must be purchased separately....
...which was why Flight 1 would not give me access to the program, as my registered version of UTX USA is the original version Version 1 for FSX!

https://www.scenerysolutions.com/category.php?id=12

Following your very helpful advice, I have downloaded, and installed the various "Patches" for my original version; eg: V 1.3 > V1.4 > 1.5 > and 1.6 in sequence.

They all installed perfectly, and my UTX USA appears to be fully up-to-date now!.... ...!

...and the Drain Plug has been replaced in the Salton Sea...and I can float my boats there again, with the help of my "Instant Scenery 3"..... :D ...!

Many thanks again.... ;) ...!
