ATC: Makes and Models

I've downloaded a few aircraft from this site.....actually a bunch. One of the things I notice is that some seem to be more compatible with the built-in ATC than others. For example, the B-52 that I'm using will correctly identify as a "Boeing Stratofortress" if I request flight following in VFR. This shows me that the ATC probably has the word "Stratofortress" somewhere in its vocabulary, despite the B-52 not being a default user aircraft. However, for the L-39 that I use, ATC recognizes the model name (Albatros, with 1 "S") but not the manufactuer (Aero, or Aero Vochody. I've tried both). So how exactly does this work? Is there a vocabulary of manufacturers and types that go beyond the default aircraft, or is there just some software that tries to "sound out" the aircraft's name?

I may be wrong on this ~ :shifty:

But I believe - if ya' want "Default" ATC to be able to "correctly" call out your Aircraft , by ID / Tail number and Name

you've got to make sure all the "Entrys" are properly / correctly filled out in the , Aircraft CFG File

as below :

[fltsim.23]
title=PMDG - British Airways (Landor) 747-400
sim=B747-400
model=RR
panel=VC
sound=RR
texture=MCP_British Airways (Landor)
kb_checklists=PMDG747-400_CHECK
atc_id_color=0xffffffff
atc_id=G-NLBE :geek: this area !!
atc_airline=PMDG :geek: this area too
atc_flight_number=2510 :geek: this area
ui_manufacturer=BOEING
ui_type=747-400 RR
ui_variation=British Airways (Landor) :geek: probably this area too ???
ui_typerole=747-400
description=MCP Boeing 747-400
visual_damage=0
atc_heavy=1
LongAntenna=1
LongAntenna2=0

I don't use Default FSX ATC, for I can't stand those computerized voices drives me crazy :snooty: :doh:

maybe somebody else who's more into the ATC thing can advise you better than dumb ol' me ! :lol:

This is your Captain ~ Speaking ~ I think were Lost somewhere over the Pacific, anybody got a Road Atlas handy ??? :roll: :shifty:

Hmmmm.....I can't seem to get it to work with FSX Steam. Any idea how to redirect the updates to the Dovetail directory?

I just googled Editvoice FSX Steam......it works...take a look and you will see many entries covering a small correctable error. This is a great tool when you catch on good luck!

Further note Im not familiar with Steam or dovetail, however the updated sound file can be found in program/editvoice/Editvoicepack Data.xml.gzip, I think copy this to dovetail manually hope this helps
