GPS500 v3 Replacement Gauge - Problem

Postby stonedferret » Sun Nov 29, 2015 1:56 pm

 The Update to this gauge is faulty.

The map page works fine - the updates are visible and working.
It's the other pages that the fault occurs. There is no backing to the gauge it is transparent - very off putting and looks crap.

It's an excellent guage and when fixed will be a fine addition to any cockpit
Version 2 works fine, but lacks the updates of v3.

There will be a Version 4 needed.

Apologies to all. The programme had a single character wrong. I will upload a new version very soon.

In regard to the transparency - please read installation instructions. You need to change the Background_color parameter to 0,0,10. This is to allow a choice of background colours. Samples are provided in the instructions but if you prefer black then just keep the parameter as 0,0,10.

Just a quick question on the gauge :?:

What database did the runway direction come from? They seem to be few degrees off at all airports based on airport information given within FSX.

Runway Direction:
Do you mean the dual direction given on the Approach selected panel? Can you give me an example to check?

Green button:
If the button is green then you already have a direct-to in effect. If you want to change then cancel it by pressing the button again and then select another destination. Its all in the manual.

I followed instruction several time without being able cancel or create Flight Plan as icon stayed constant green. I opened Flight Plan in FSX and created and loaded the identical plan as in the GPS, I went back to the GPS it was showing a green icon when activated it cancelled flight, it responded and allowed me to create and change at will...Seems I need the initial flight plan in FSX because when deleted the icon turned to constant green and would not respond. This submission is to help not be critical, I so appreciate all the hard work of those who contribute and make this a fun, and enjoyable pastime.

Yes I have done a thought experiment on this and realised that my approach was not quite correct. It will not cancel a direct-to flight plan if there is no preceding Flight plan OR even if the preceding Flight plan is a Direct-to entered from the Flight Planner. What is annoying is that the original approach I took was correct and I changed to this method at the last minute without thinking it through. The fix is pretty easy but releasing yet another release might be a bit off-putting.
Lets wait and see what other problems come up.

Runway direction:
I should read the small print - FSX stores the runway direction as True and I did not convert it to Magnetic. It only affects the displayed direction - it does not affect tuning or flight in any way.
I guess I will have to do another release after all.

There are so many small things that can get overlooked.
I believe that this gauge is worth the time and effort, it incorporates all features in one gauge and the maps are outstanding looking.
You have done an incredible job on it and i will help in any little way necessary :D :D

Keep up the excellent work. 8-) 8-)
