Thinking of my next computer build.

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Thinking of my next computer build.

When I loaded FSX on my Windows 7 64bit system I installed it on a separate internal SSD from the OS. What I would like to know is if I was to build a new Windows 10 64bit desktop computer and then install that FSX SSD as an additional drive number, say (F: ) would it run and function as normal. In other words is Win10 capable of running an SSD that has been loaded in Win7. I have so much data on that drive reloading it all again doesn’t bear thinking about.

I do not see any reasons as to why it would not run. But your system will not see it because there is no entry in the regeristry for it. If you know what you are doing you can create a entry your self using REGEDIT. BUT unless you know without a doubt how to do this I strongly advise you do not attempt as the result could be disastrous to say the least. <<s

You are right, I'm not that confident to start altering the registry. If I choose to build a new computer I could just keep Win 7 of course. Just hope like many others Microsoft keeps supporting Win 7. There seems a lot of pressure to go to Win 10 with free upgrades being dangled. Personally I would never upgrade like they offer, I much prefer a clean install. Thanks for your reply. :D

If you are building a system and you own both Win 7 and 10 build and dual boot both OS and install FSX on Win 7 and 10 to cover yourself. I want Win 10 but not sure how well it will work for me. I have Win 8.1 but I do not want to take a chance on losing FSX as I have it now.
