f11 Aircraft view

I seem to recall that when I installed FSX the first time, a view of a loaded aircraft on pressing f11 was initially from the side. Then for some reason it became from the back and I never have been able to find out how to correct this. If it's in the config file, I'm too blind to see it. I have a Steam version of FSX where it always comes up from the side, but I can't stand all the adverts so I have returned to the old version!
Can anyone clear up this matter for me?

If you are talking about views they are in the settings menu and can be assigned keystrokes to allow you to view different angles.
Just look under options/settings/assignments Than scroll down to the pan window views. I used to use the arrow keys before i got my Cessna Flight yoke That has a hat switch on it. Some of the better joysticks have a hat switch as well.
There are pan up pan down pan left and pawn right as well as look left right up and down as well.
The pan views allows the view to move a little smoother than the look option. You can just scroll around the entire aircraft by pressing one arrow or one key stroke. <<s

I meant the default view when f11 is pressed. I understand that the view may be changed with the joystick but that means holding onto it if you want to look at the aircraft side on or from any other position than aft.

If you go to C > Users > your name > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > FSX > Controls > Standard.xml

Open with notepad. Find line containing F11

Does it read like this?

<Entry>
<Key>F11</Key>
<Down>VIEW_CAMERA_SELECT_3</Down>

Try panning around to the side and save flight.
Then load another flight.

See how that works.
