system dies while active flying

FSX including FSX Steam version.

system dies while active flying

Postby Pwiily » Tue Jun 30, 2015 1:06 pm

I get into the flight for 5 minutes or so and suddenly all goes black.
Or the monitor freezes with wild colors left to see.
I am considering a upgrade on the RAM and other power
sources.

Hope you can help before I do something radical.

Pwilly.

Sounds more like a GPU problem. A little background info can help us help you.

How long have you been using FSX?
Is this a new problem, or is it something that has happened since the first time you started using FSX?
Can you make the problem stop by reducing your graphic settings in FSX?
What are your computer specs, in particular your CPU, GPU, and memory?

If the video card you are using has its own power plug the power supply could be going bad as well.
The higher end video cards all have to have a dedicated power source. Some of these cards require a lot of power and can get really hot.
If the power supply you have is right at the edge you could be running out of power for your card.
