Many sims have a blank knee-board I find. How might I write details on it?

Not quite sure what you are asking here. This is usually defined in the Panel CFG file of each aircraft providing that the aircraft has its own panel.
There are several files one can download to change this window.

I placed a copy the C172 default aircraft check/ref .htm to my Metro III Sweringen aircraft I was working on. I used Word Pad to open the .htm and edited the code and added more lines of code. When done editing just save your work and view your kneeboard in your aircraft.
This is what I did to create a kneeboard reference and check list for the Metro III.

I believe at 1st the file is a .html format which will take you to the webpage. Once you right click the file and open the file with a editor the .html will change to a .htm because of the editing.
