problems with FSX SDK

Postby snoopy51 » Sat Jun 13, 2015 11:16 am

HI, I use FSX Gold Edition and have FSX SDK, but i don´t get the Tool menu, when I start FSX, I have first installed the SDK (from FSX DVD_1) and afterwards I have installed fsx_sdk_sp1a (from the acceleration DVD) and finally run the sdk.msi also from (acceleration DVD).
I have learned through internet, that both the FSX and the SDK should have same ID version and my FSX have 10.0.61637, but where do I find what version my SDK have ? and what do I wrong ? any help would be appreciated.
I want to use object placement tool, but are missing the tool menu inside FSX.

Hi,
Here is the best information available regarding SDK installation and getting the OPT working:

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.p ... _%28FSX%29

When you first open the SDK there will be a reference to Acceleration if you have the Acceleration version.
It pays to think of the SDK and FSX as 2 separate programs. The dll.xml must point to the correct version of the OPT included with the Acceleration version to work properly when Acceleration is installed.

Hi Jim
Thanks for your reply, I have uninstalled FSX SDK and then installed it, like proposed in the link You send me, but it didn´t help anyway, I even tried to copy the text from both OPT, Speciel effects and traffic toolbox into the dll.xml file, still no luck, so I think I will have to drop it, and use another Tool, when working with scenery objects (just a newbie in that matter).
Have just made my first scenery and have some questions about that subject, but that it are more home in design forum "scenery and panel design"

The instructions at fsdeveloper work perfectly, but you must follow it exactly to the letter. Making things up and copying text helter skelter is a sure sign that you aren't doing something exactly right. If you can'tmake the SDK install, it's likely on account of pebkac.
