Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I looked around on this forum before posting this. I added some hi res scenery files of Hawaii, which I think is messing up my fps. I would like to know if there is a easy way to remove then form my FSX. I was able to set my target fps at 40 and get it, now I'm lucky to get 10 fps out of FSX any where. Not just Hawaii
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Scenery applied was: E Mesh Hawaii

Start FSX > Main screen > Settings > Scenery Library > un-tick the box listing the offending scenery.
(It can also be removed in that page, if required).
Close down FSX.
Restart FSX to see the results with the scenery removed.
Try "locking" the Frame Rate to 25 FPS for smooth scenery.

Thanks a bunch Paul, I did not know if deleting them would cause other issues or not. Also, why do you not set fps above 25-30? If I was getting better than 30+ whats the deal with having them set at 40?

They say that the eye doesn't notice frame rates higher than 25-30. The top fsx tuning folk reckon that smoothness is more important than FPS so in order to achieve maximum smoothness they don't over burden their machines with unnecessary frames.
I expect fozzer can give a better explanation when he gets back (He's probably having a nice supper at the mo)

Nah, G.K....
..its Tea-time at the moment.
Supper-time comes a while later.....Mushroom Vindaloo Curry: Chopped button mushrooms with onions and garlic, chillies and creamed coconut milk, long grain + wild rice, and oven cooked crinkle chips....
...with buttered crusty bread, and washed down with a nice red Australian wine.
Life is sweet!

I have a hunch that you'll find that deleting the Hawaii photo scenery didn't help
I've got all of it, and never noted any FPS loss.
Photo scenery, in general, will put much less of a strain on your computer's resources than scenery with autogen trees, buildings, roads, bridges, etc.
On the other hand - have you been trying to increase your FPS using some of the tweaks that are out there?
Long story short - I've recently tried three of the,
supposedly, best tweaks.
These were tweaks the everybody said worked great for them.
I saw absolutely NO improvements, so I reverted to what I had before.
And guess what? My flight sim load time is
SIGNIFICENTLY slower!
I'm
VERY unhappy. Nothing that I've done will get the speed back to what it had been.

Right removing it did not help. I had also installed Ultimate Alaska some years ago and had files still on the system... At that time I only had one HD, and the file was near 800mb, so I had deleted the .rar file for room needed. Since then I had to uninstall FSX and do a full reinstall with running only SP2, at that time, because my Acceleration would not load and error. So the other day I got down on removing every file I could find that was tagged with some sort of FSX, Microsoft Flight SimX, you know the deal. Reinstalled everything including Accleration. However, I was getting up to 40 fps in flight, that was target, which I was seeing 35+ with Shift-Z.
When loading FSX, after the new install, I would see info popup about UT-115,116,117 etc not loading, slowed the load up time a lot. After you guys help, and removing the E mesh and UTA files from the library, My load times are spiffy fast now. this brings me to, fps now set ay 30. Yet I'm only still seeing 13ish fps max. I'm wondering if this is Acceleration doing this now? I have no tweeks, I have lowered the sliders etc... I only have a couple of add on planes that installed into the root directory of FSX this was the default install from them. 1. Alabeo Diamond DA42 Twinstar. 2. Carenado TBM 850 SP2 which are the only 2 that came with installers. I do have a few others that install in Sim-objects like most do, but only like 4-5 so pretty much stock install. I wonder if this might be the issue. I have not added any water, lights or anything else at this time.
I run Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, with DirectX 11, I run FSX in DirextX 10. I have to change back to DX9 for a couple of planes that will not show textures with DX10, this still will not help with fps.
Errr where oh where have my fps gone?
I appreciate, the help you guys have gave me already, as I was not sure just deleting the files from game would clear them out or not. Big help easy to do. Thx again.
Any ideas on better fps, with out just zeroing out my sliders, which are on low to med. already.
System is: Alienware 4600+ 64bit @ 2.4GHz, 6gig Mem PC 6400, GT240 Gforce Nivida

I'll tell you what....
..I have experienced trouble in the past with getting my FSX to run "smoothly" with my previous Tower Computer with its 2.8 GHz Intel Dual Core Processor and nVidia G-Force 9500GT graphics card.
It would run FS 2004 flat-out with everything maxed, but FSX always struggled with that specification. Always problems with highly detailed scenery.
The computer was just not man enough to cope with FSX!
OK on FS 2004...but not FSX!
It wasn't until I purchased my present tower, gaming computer, (details in my signature), that I was finally able to race around
SMOOTHLY with everything turned up to the max with my FSX....and other computer games!
There is no substitute for
POWER when it comes to FSX!

As usual Fozzer is right on here which is one of the reason I upgraded my system last year see signature for details. I run FSX flat out frame rates locked at 30.
But one has to remember that it is not just the scenery that can slow things down. Other things like Traffic and Cloud draw distance can effect FPS as well. I have turned off the Ships and ferries as I have no use for them. I also have a weather program called ACTIVE SKY NEXT from HYFI
http://www.hifitechinc.com/index.php?ti ... o%2520HiFiMind you that this program does not come with textures for clouds but since I had Active Sky EVOLUTION as well as Active Sky 20112 which came wit textures I am able to import them into Active Sky Next. Or you can use the default clouds or create your own cloud textures.
By either using or creating your own textures it will help with frame rates some what.
But one thing that will make a difference is to have FSX installed on a drive that does not have your operating system on it.
Now mind you you will not see a jump in frame rates but the program runs faster and smother when on a separate hard drive.
I know that some will argue this but if you think about it having any program installed on a separate drive will help it out because the system does not have to to multiple seeks by going back and forth from the operating system to the file where FSX is at. By having FSX or any program on a different
drive Your system does not have to do this It can read one file while processing it at the same time.
