it will more than likely run. My concern is FS2004. I have a copy of Microsoft Train Simulator which was made back in the mid to late 9o's and it will run on Windows 8.1 in compatibility mode. I have signed up for the free update. The only thing I have heard about Windows 10 is that it will not use Microsoft Internet Explore as a browser any more HURRAY HURRAY I personally use Fire Fox. I am not sure what they plan on using for a browser I pray that it is not Google Chrome that is worse than IE. Strictly my opinion. <<s

As far as I am aware they are developing a new Browser code name 'Spartan'. It is suppose to look and feel more like Chrome and firefox.
this in itself is a problem as FSX will only print flight plans via IE. But I assume IE will run, but wont be bundled. ( but that is one of those compatibility issues I am concerned about).
Here in Europe Microsoft isnt allowed to bundle a browser anymore anyway and must offer a choice of browsers when installing the OS.

I don't know about compatibility but I just read a month ago anyone with Windows 7 or later can update for free.

Also if you have Windows 8.1 I signed up for it and yes it will be free.
I do not have any problems printing flight plans and I do not use IE unless I have no choice.
But you are correct that there are several sites that you must have IE in order to view the contents. But I am sure Microsoft has thought about that.

As far as I am aware, you cant print flight plans from within FSX unless IE is set as the default browser.
Sofar the beta releases have bundled both IE and spartan. As I said, the situation here in europe will be a bit different as here microsoft has been banned from
bundling a browser within the OS. They must offer a choice.
as free updates are offered from win 7 onwards I am hopeful that FSX will run OK. Third party add ons may be a problem.
I assume MS will release some sort of compatibility checker before one upgrades.

I do admire your faith in Microsoft having due consideration for backward compatibility.

Faith in Microsoft  Not likely but one can only hope that they are not that dumb.
But than we are talking about Microsoft so I guess you can only keep your fingers toes and anything else you can cross CROSSED. :o
