Copy all of your original config file and create a new text file on desktop and paste config file to txt, add new aircraft to text file and close and save changes. Rename file aircraft and change extension to .cfg, then cut and paste where it needs to go and you should be good to go.
I am betting you are in window 8.

Also just read last night we should have not installed FSX into default C:\Program Files (x86) but instead we should have installed into C:\Program Files.
What I read:
Right out of the box, FSX will install itself to C:/Program Files (x86) / Microsoft Games. THIS IS WRONG

Instead, redirect FSX it to install onto your C: drive folder, especially if you plan on adding on third party programs such as REX Essentials Plus Overdrive. The reason being that the Programs (x86) folder has a protection system associated with it, that can and will cause problems with third party program installations.

Even though you may not have purchased REX Essentials Plus Overdrive, please watch the attached YouTube video By: James Holcomb@REX Game Studios who will explain the reasons why you should not allow FSX to install itself into the x86 folder on your computer.

That sounds a tad complicated. Simply paste the Aircraft.cfg file you wish to edit/modify to your Desktop. Then open it in Notepad to add the new entries. When editing is complete exit Notepad saving changes when prompted. Then paste it back to its original location. (Always take a copy of any file you wish to edit before doing so.)

If I might correct this. The default location for older 32-bit software like FSX in 64-bit versions of Windows 7 & Windows 8 is the C:/Program Files (X86) directory. Windows treats all files in both the C:/Program Files & C:/Program Files (x 86) directories as protected system files which explains problems some people have with modifying files in those locations. The best way over this is to install FSX to a location outside the Program Files directories - on a different drive if possible. My own FSX is installed to E:/FSX.

However, if you've already installed FSX to the default location I wouldn't recommend changing it as uninstalling FSX could cause problems.

Thanks Hagar for the correcting, I guess I assumed if you copied the config file to desktop it would again copy the file protection.
