ATR 72-500 Speed break

Postby milesg » Sun Feb 22, 2015 5:38 pm

Good afternoon SIMAVIATION F LIGHTERS, I have a pair of questions..

1....) How do I deploy the speed break for the ATR 72-500...Im sure Id seen a level to pull and retract them before.

Unless the have changed the old setups for the new ones and they have forgotten this insignificant NEED..

The ATR does have spoilers on touch down..activate them in controls buttons surface spoilers...I use cntrl Bloq.
Just need to find the speed breaks....plz. At least my Australasia.

2...) If in real life the 737-800 has a speed of 0.75 or 340 plus...kts, why does it not do that in FSX...?????
Ive tried changing the TAS and IAS in general configuration, and it doesn't change..max speed is around 315 at fl 350...

I suppose its the configuration of FSX. but it bugs me when a 717-200 goes at fl 250 and 315 AA. not to speak of the Jordanian and the Viking planes that go over 380 plus...

Thanks for the information and

Excellency in landings..where not bus drivers....

Most turbo prop aircraft do not have speed brakes but use reverse thrust from the props to slow them down Just like the twin engine King Air.
Even the P3 Orion and the C130 do not have speed brakes. And how you are able to get this aircraft to flight level 350 is a miracle as the service ceiling is roughly 29000 ft give or take. According to a website about the real ATR.
I use to fuel these aircraft and never noticed speed brakes on them.
One of the things any aircraft will do while taxing is to check all of the systems such as speed brakes and free movement of all controls.
I have seen numerous landings and never once saw speed brakes deploy.
As for the speed of the aircraft about the only way you might get any improvement is to edit the aircraft cfg file in the engine section
Editing the air file may help as well but not sure on that one.

Deeply sorry for gap.  Ive been out of simulators and flying over a year ...

Very sorry..you are right   the ATR does NOT have speed breaks but reverse thrust and small spoilers almost at the end of the wings. I was confused by the Bae 146--and I will not say they have similar endings....but...

The 350 FL is for the 737-800...but as I said, in FSX the planes don't go over to real speed..M 0.54 or 315 kts ( my 737-800 of AA ) and basically ALL crafts in FSX have these low parameters...If they have to be touched I suppose that its with someone who knows configurations......Id like to learn....but now I pass.. :(

The only ones that I know of that really go over the limit are the Viking Air Boeing 727-100 Super Performer and Royal Jordanian MD-81 With Virtual Cockpit and custom sound. Speed restrictions have been removed so this bird, Royal Jordanian, can hit 700 KTS Enjoy.

Thanks for the remainder..

Excellency in Landings    ....Were are not bus drivers
