How to fix? Anyone know how?

Regards to all>
i recently download Airbus A330-323X of Asiana Airlines and notice something in the simulation of the graphics , specifically speaking, the simulation engines have visibly gases leaving the turbines and behind the tail of the airbus.
I wish I could post a picture but do not let me. :snooty:
Anyone know what I'm talking about and knows how to fix or is what causes. Would greatly appreciate it. :clap: :clap:
Thanks.

Check in the aircraft CFG. Usually there is something in the [EFFECTS] listing.

May i ask you. What should i find in the effects???? In the aircraft.cfg?

Ummm, yes, but...

I worked around jets for a long time, and I know for a fact that gasses DO, in fact come out of the back end of those things. In large volumes and at great velocity, as a general rule. SO why is this a problem on your plane? Do you not want to see gasses? They are a normal concomitant (I think I just got a brain-cramp!) to jets, your plane isn't farting, trust me.

I'm just curious....

Pat, some of them, like the Razbam A7, have an unusual amount of exhaust and I don't think it's very realistic at all. Matter of fact it screws up my FPS rate too.

Bluenarrow look for some thing like the following: "startup=//fx_dsb_heat" in the [EFFECTS] or it might even be in the [smokesystem]. If you find something that you think might be the culprit place two slash marks like this -> // in front of that line in the Aircraft CFG and save it. then try the aircraft again and see if it helps. If not then remove the slash marks and look some more. If you can't find something in the CFG then it's probably hard wired into the model and you're SOL.

Hope this helps...

Hi Bluenarrow,

According to Microsoft, the vapour trails are in the temperature section of the [generalenginedata] section of the aircraft.cfg.
If you think about it, it makes sense, why do clouds appear? because the moisture saturation reaches the max it can do for the temperature and condenses.

This is from my default B737-800 aircraft.cfg

max_contrail_temperature = -30 //Temperature (deg C) below which contrails may appear

Now without having tried and based on the comment, I would assume lowering the temperature will prevent contails from appearing.

This is the page I found:

regards

Steve

i wouldn't mess around with parts of the cfg file that I don't understand completely, you may make things worse or screw up the flight characteristics. Be sure to save the original file before making any changes.

Thanks all
Going to find a way to upload an image of my Airbus on the ground and you'll see behind the engines and the tail a shape like an oval.

Looks like the toilet dump, but I know that's not in there. It may be an inconsistency in the graphics card.

Yep, this is not the first time I've seen the problem... I had it on two of the 330s in my fsx, but since I have so many of em I simply removed the ones that did that. This was before I started messing around with cfgs so I honestly don't know how to fix it... Rest assured, it's not your PC (i had the problem on more than one) or your fsx.

There used to be some airplane downloads that had a heat effect thing turned on by default that showed up behind the wings in line with the engine exhaust. There was a simple keyboard combination that turned this effect on and off, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. This might be the problem.

ok, NOW I can (quite literally) see the problem, and finally understand. I thought you just didn't like a normal jet exhaust effect that so many designers include...
Like these

[lights] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 4, 14.950, 0.000, 2.619, fx_vclight_grn
light.1 = 1, -18.330, -6.034, 7.731, fx_beaconb
light.2 = 1, -18.330, 6.034, 7.731, fx_beaconb
light.3 = 2, -22.208, -6.146, 8.095, fx_strobe
light.4 = 2, -22.208, 6.146, 8.095, fx_strobe
light.5 = 10, -10.0, 0.0, 0.0, fx_RCB_machenvlop,1
light.6 = 8, 13.5, 0, 0, fx_vapor_fa18
light.7 = 7, -13.00, 22.0, -1.00, fx_contrail_s_short
light.8 = 7, -13.00, -22.0, -1.00, fx_contrail_s_short
light.9 = 5, -22.8, -1.65, -0.8, fx_flame2_mid
light.10 = 5, -22.8,1.65, -0.8, fx_flame2_mid
light.11 = 9, -23.0, -1.65, -0.8, fx_augmentor2
light.12 = 9, -23.0, 1.65, -0.8, fx_augmentor2

[effects]
wake = fx_wake
water = fx_spray
dirt = fx_tchdrt
concrete = fx_sparks
touchdown = fx_nicks_tchdwn_s, 1
startup=fx_engstrt
windshield_rain_effect_available=1
deice=fx_deicing

[SMOKESYSTEM]
//smoke.0 = -23.0, -1.65, -0.8, fx_ac130fL
//smoke.1 = -23.0, 1.65, -0.8, fx_ac130fR
smoke.0=0, -24.00, -1.65, fx_smoke_eng_fa18
smoke.1=0, -24.00, 1.65, fx_smoke_eng_fa18

I think they are pretty obvious...

I apologize if my smart-alek comment offended. I mean no offense, it's just my way...

I installed the plane in my FSX. There is no plume at the rear. There is a light at that location. I don't remember which one. Turn off the lights and see if it goes away. If it does, turn on the lights one at a time to see which one it is. Then look in the aircraft.cfg for the particular effect and make sure you have it and the bmp that is in the effect (edit the fx file with Notepad).. There are no other smoke or engine effects. Bob.

It's ok Pat. ;)

believe me but I feel a bit frustrated with it.
I looked into the aircraft.cfg and there's no [SMOKESYSTEM] :?: :?:
