i have never used FSX and havent flown in fs2004 in years. I just bought another pc and thought lets give fsx a go.. It plays very nice, but I downloaded a free camera utility called "srollmousecam" or something like that.. And between A and S I got so lost trying to get back to VC it took me min lol..

Hi sonic,

The trigger button used for brakes always seemed rather strange; having such a little used function being programmed to the most convenient button. As such I programmed the trigger to "Look forward (3-D cockpit)" in the "Views" section of "Controls". Now no matter what screwy view I'm in I'm instantly returned to the VC looking straight forward.

Shift 1 will put you back in the 2D cockpit but it just could open up another window and leave the other one open.
You can also open up a small window of different views using the shift { key then if you double click on the open small window it will expand than just use the Shift }key to close that window.
But the best way to handle any views you want is to use the arrow keys you will have to define the key strokes though under key assignments

Hi Jim & Gary,

Strange thing to say that brakes are a little used function, I'd hate to be in your plane :) if you have a twist grip rudder based joystick, having brake on the trigger can give you fine control over differential braking if your not using multi engine aircraft you use the engines to assist turning.

As far as viewing: the 'top hat' works but I find is the slowest way of looking at what you want, for me space bar and mouse is perfectly precise in locating exactly the
control you need to adjust and quickly

regards

Steve

Hi Steve,
I was comparing the time spent flying compared to the time spent braking when I said little used. I now have rudder pedals, but prior to this I was using a Cyborg EVO and while controlling the throttle, with my thumb and forefinger gripping the lever, my little finger rested handily on one of the buttons and I had it programmed for braking. And you can't fly with me anyway! So there!
