Runway Skidmarks

Postby mason097 » Wed Oct 08, 2014 6:23 pm

Hello all, I was looking around for some freeware that would simply change the default FSX grey blur at the ends of runways to more detailed skidmarks, but have not had any luck. Anybody know of this? And if not, how would I go about editing this in myself? Thanks.

I am not sure if there are any freeware programs that will do this but there are several payware programs that will allow you to change the default runway textures.
one is REX and another is Active Sky.
As for changing it yourself unless you know what you are doing I would not recommend messing with them.
Failure to do so could cause some major problems. <<s

well I've found a way to open up the DDS textures in gimp, I'll try editing them after backing up the original ones. May try to steal the runway textures from a good airport scenery.

Like I said if you feel comfortable doing this than by all means do so. But like I stated these textures can and are a little tricky because of the way the channels are set on them. But I am glad to see that you plan on backing up the originals before altering them.
Lots of luck let us know how they turn out others might want to do the same.

Well I was able to edit in some nice skidmark textures! The only problem is that fsx overlaps the default texture so this texture has come out with some bad looking edges. Ill work these out then post them for others to use.
