How to "make" FMC to show other aircraft/air traffic?

Hello I read fmc manual which is part of some aircrafts and in the end there is information that FMC can show the air traffic nearby, but I couldnt find out what to press or what to do to show the air traffic in the fmc screen that's why I'am writing a post here, maybe there is someone who will be able to help.
Here is the screen from the fmc manual - part where is the information about air traffic. I really dont know what to press, there are buttons but they show ndbs/vors/arpts/routes/wpts etc.

Thanks for help :)

I could be wrong but I do not see how that could be done. The way I look at it a FMC is no more than a GPS with some extras added to it. To my knowledge a FMC is not connected to any radar which is what you would need in order to see other aircraft.
But like I said I could be wrong.
Most commercial aircraft have a ATC system for that purpose which is one of the reasons I bought FSMAP it will show other aircraft in your area and even sow you the airport where you are at which makes finding your way around a new airport a piece of cake. there are quite a few maps out there that you can import but most of these are found at a site that has gone downhill lately and that is AVSIM
I have not looked to see if these can be found elsewhere.

For spotting other Aircraft, Radio Beacons, Airfield layout, etc, in your area, I use both "G-Plan" and "FS Tramp" freeware radar maps!

Ideal for use in Multiplayer as well, to keep a track on your Mates!.

Hi Paul,Gary and overlord,

According to my fmc manual and it's not the same one quoted above, you can indeed see the traffic around you. Not tried it and in fact I've never used the fmc, I always tuned the vors/ndb manually and navigated as it used to be before gps came along or use the gps.

This is something I'll have to experiment with and report unless somebody else beats me to it.

regards

Steve (just back from nice hot hols in Kos :) )

Back to the original question. I know nothing about using modern aids like the FMC. However, this intrigued me so I downloaded an aircraft with the Honeywell FMC on the panel to check it out.

I installed the aircraft & started the flight on the runway at KLAX. When the flight loaded I selected the FMC & followed the instructions. The window was rather small so I moved it to centre screen then enlarged it by dragging the sides. This could be fixed permanently by editing Panel.cfg.

I didn't enter any waypoints or other information but the Traffic feature worked straight away. First click the Menu button then the Map button next to it. Click the TER button on the right-hand side of the display to toggle the terrain view. (I assume that RK in the instructions means Right Keys.) Then click the TAG button above it to display the traffic ID.

Without terrain.

EDIT: I'am using plane models which have the FMC installed already. Posky models in 747's have little different FMC in other plane models if the FMC is here it's the same fmc as you have and it's the same fmc which is in the fmc honeywell guide. But I click on the map then terrain then the TAG and no planes are visible and I have a lot of planes nearby :(

This is very odd. I originally checked it out on my Win7 laptop in a basic install of FSX DeLuxe (without SP1, SP2 or Acceleration installed) & it worked as advertised.

However. I tried it on my main WinXP desktop PC in FSX Gold + Acceleration & the traffic doesn't display. I don't know if there are other variables that could affect this. Perhaps someone else can help?

This is the aircraft I tried it on. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=B777-300ERaircanadaFSX.zip&categoryId=
The FMC looks exactly the same as the one in the manual.

Sorry for calling you hangar :D I didnt have my glasses hope it put a smile on your face

I have FSX Gold and I'am using W7 64bit ultimate. And I have another different problem with the game which really bothers me but nobody could help me so far I also created topic at this forum but nothing changed. If I use any B777 from Posky I will get the b777serv.dll error with the msvcr70.dll file +simconnect version.

I did a lot of seaching on the internet but nothing helped. Somebody does not have the file somebody does but different version. I found some file directly from MS but the version number is lower than the version number in the picture above

I failed to help you with this one too. Did you install the FSX SDK?

I have the PMDG 737 HG 600/700
Payware and the FMC in it does not have a means to show aircraft around you.

I dont know what you mean exactly. I have Some SP1 patch (208mb) SP2 patch (166mb) and downloaded the SDK (211mb). I probably try to make clear install and start from scratch maybe I did something wrong with the patches and updates.
Could you tell me what to do step by step if I will go for clear install? I have the gold edition it should have some things inside already if I'am not mistaken.

I would try the clear install and will post results here :)

The SDK is included with FSX DeLuxe & Gold. It has to be installed to use some features & tools. There are different versions depending on which version of FSX you have (SP1, SP2, Acceleration etc.)

This Wiki might help. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_%28FSX%29
Please read it carefully. It looks more complicated than it is.

Note: I did not install the SDK on FSX on my laptop, the one where the FMC traffic displays.

Also take a look around your skies -- often there simply is no air traffic (by default the traffic is shown with red identities in the sky)

No air traffic and you won't see it in the FMC

It's quire a common problem - disappearing air traffic ....
