Install FSX on Windows 7 Pro SP1 with SSD??

Hi,
I just built a new PC with an i7-4930k, GTX 760, and a 256Gb SSD. This is my first time installing FSX on a 64bit system. I read advice on how to install on windows 7 but not much on if you have a SSD. I would imagine defragging and putting FSX on a drive location for speed purposes is does not apply to a SSD. My instincts told me to install in C:/Program files and not x86 as most add-ons are looking for "program files". Am I right? I am all ears to listen to any advice for my case. Thanks in advance.

With my rig I created a folder (Microsoft Flight Simulator X) on the clean ssd and pointed the installer to that location instead of the default.
It seems to load faster and run smoother, maybe a few FPS increase. You should be fine with your setup.
The only drawback is you will be limited as to how many addons you can install.
I just installed all my weather, ATC and things like REX to the default Program 86 folder.
Your mileage may very.
Hope this helped.

Actually none "program files" is for 64 bit applications . X86 is for 32 bit programs and fsx is a 32 bit program. FSX should be installed outside any program groups for reliablity and in order to avoid all the Win 7 security checks.

The main add-ons I use are REX and FTX NA BLUE PNW. I also like to make airports with ADE . Usually I would install FSUIPC4 and the SDK and FSX Water Configurator. Would I have to point those installs to the FSX folder on "C:/" also?
As long as I can manually install planes and use REX and FTX products, I'm good.

This is why it took me so long to leave XP.

Yes, you can install your other programs to C:\. Things like Scenery (ORBX) etc and Modules (FSUIPC4) will look for your FSX registery and would install directly to FSX. REX can be installed to C as it is a stand alone and only sends or replaces textures before you Fly. SDK, ADE are also Stand Alone and can be put on C. You can still install aircraft, scenery etc directly to FSX as you normally would. Try to keep FSX on your SSD lean and clean.
Going from XP to 7 you should notice alot more stability. And with your CPU you'll probably cry with joy from the frames you'll get

Windows 8 64 bit is just like Windows 7 when installing FSX it is advised not to put it in the default location. Since you have more than one drive put it on the second drive

WOW!! For the first time I'm seeing sliders all the way to the right!

Thanks for the help. I got it up and running. I wonder about the DX10 preview. Is it worth leaving it on? So far I'm not that impressed. If it doesn't make that much of a difference I will uncheck it back. I will tell once I get REX installed.
