Bien Vincent Garsuta Balansag did a nice job on this new Cougar. The only glitch I detected was the initial cockpit view is off center vertically but is easy to drag to the proper position. The model may be somewhat faster than the real plane as I was able to achieve 700 kts in level flight at 3000 ft alt. But it flew nicely and was easy to land.

Hi,
I've always liked the Cougar but hadn't come across a decent freeware version. I downloaded this file and it appears some creep has copied the work of another and attempted to pass it off as their own.

I'm not that familiar with the different authors to know who created what.

I'll look into it
Obviously if it was the work of someone else it would be removed/recredited but let's see ...........

Getting back to the offset cockpit view, is there a way I can edit one of the files to correct the glitch or should I just leave it alone and adjust the window at the start of each session?

This "FSX" file works in FS9. I just downloaded it. It looks familiar, but the author's name does not. I'm checking that out right now. Over on Flightsim.com there's a Cougar model that looks like this one, but I can't be sure until I see both. I'm downloading that one and will compare them and render an opinion. So hang on guys, lets see what I come up with.
OK, here it is: Most likely thes files are the same, based on this:
> There is a file at Flightsim.com by David Wooster, posted there a long time ago. There are several repaints of his model there also.
> The SimV model is designated for FSX, but works in FS9. (I do not know if it also works in FSX.)
> The Wooster files are designated for FS9.
> The David Wooster files read EXACTLY as follows:
F9F Cougars single seat
F9F CougarTrainers
> The files on SimV also read EXACTLY as above. "Cougars" is plural in the SimV file, and there is no space in "CougarTrainers". Those were Wooster's errors in the original files.
In my opinion, the SimV file may have been pirated.
OK, now let me actually look at both the aircraft in FS9. Yep, same stuff allright. And both cockpit views are off a bit, but horizontally, not vertically.
I believe I got my facts correct here. Pete will make the final decision on this, of course.
So, looks like watching all those Columbo reruns finally paid off.

Thanks for the info. The tell tale is always the textures folders.
So yes -- this is Dave Wooster's FS9 creation = updated for FSX
I will change the credits and upload the corrected version

The SimV version gives credit to Wooster, so I now see, so this is not piracy, but an update for FSX.
By the way, there is a way to fix the offset cockpit view, aircraft.cfg file: [VIEWS] eyepoint, I think it's the middle number, just set it to 0.00.
Kazunori Ito also has an F9F Cougar, and his version had a couple of repaints, maybe Google it, it's been awhile, so I forget exactly where I saw it.
