So, in the opinion of the masters here which microsoft OS is best for FSX? Win 7, win 7 pro, Vista or win 8?. Generally my computer guru says win 7 pro is the most stable.

I can't vouch for other OS's but I am using Win 8.1 and my FSX runs smooth as glass. My last computer used Vista, and my flightsim worked well with that too. Occasional CTD but I think that was caused by add-ons. XP seems to be the popular choice but that might be because that was the best OS at the time of FSX release.

I think it is the OS that you feel works for you. I loved XP, but they threw me (and you) under the train. (MS) Ask me two weeks ago the same question and I would have had a different mindset.

I didn't mention XP since MS no longer supports it. The only reason I bought a new computer was because it would have cost so much to upgrade the old one from XP. Plus it was ten years old, but it ran FS 2002 fine.
