Duplicate files

Over the last few weeks since getting FSX I have downloaded a bunch of planes. Sometimes when unzipping files they got unzipped to who knows where. Today I downloaded some software that searches for duplicate files and then allows you to either leave them as is or remove the duplicate. When searching the FSX directories it found hundreds of duplicate files. Most are ether gauges or panel files. I figure the panel files are not really duplicates but different files in different directories with the same name. So I plan to leave them as is. But, as the gauges are all supposed to be in a common directory I figure it is alright to eliminate duplicates.

My computer is filling up fast so I am hoping to reclaim some space. So, will I screw things up if I delete duplicate gauge files>

This is the reason I recommend unzipping/extracting zipped files to a Temp folder before installing them manually. This way you know exactly where those files are going. The right-click 'Extract All' option will unzip the files into your Download folder alongside the zipfile. The install path of auto-installers can usually be redirected to a location of your choice instead of the FSX root directory.

I would leave well alone unless you know exactly which files you're deleting.
