I'm not sure if you already no about this but here goes.

So I was very close to buying TOPCAT, a program which is basically pointless unless you like to be as realistic as you can possibly be, when I stumbled across a video on Youtube by Matt Davis (he's worth a look at if you've never seen him, his videos and reviews are good http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7SryN ... 5tp3rPn0RQ).

In this video he mentioned a software called UTOPIA (Universal Take Off Performance Information Application) and it is excellent, it's basically TOPCAT but it's free and far less fiddly, it provides all the same take off info and the most important part is...it's FREE!

It works out your derates and flap settings (which is the main reason I wanted TOPCAT) and gives you info on if a runway/weight combo is suitable.

They look the same. Looking into it now.

Alright. The version on the SimV site is 2.27. The version for sale is version 2.73. Perhaps the creator released the older version for free? Don't know, but I will ask Pete

Version 2.27 is also a free trial that makes you wait 30 seconds everytime you want to do anything. It also only supports 747s and 767s. And is twitchy to say the least.
