Michael E. Roberts ND S-76 FSX update

I have not seen any other comments on this so I may be the only one having the problem. Anyway, here goes...

I flew S-76's professionally for 20 years and so was really eager to see this update of the ND S-76 for FSX. All the fixes mentioned in the description work as advertised.

But (there's always a "but" isn't there), the model itself doesn't work. For example, starting with a running aircraft, I have no Nr or oil pressure indications, among many others; there is good N2 indication but as soon as I pull pitch there is serious rotor droop and the aircraft won't fly; the engine control levers on the overhead move but don't do anything, which presents the interesting issue of not being able to shut the aircraft down.

Any thoughts / suggestions would be gratefully accepted. Many thanks in advance.

BTW, this is my only aircraft having any problems, so it does seem the issue is with the .mdl and/or .air files...just a guess.

This sounds like a gauge problem some aircraft do not come with all the gauges
I suggest that you print out the panel cfg file and then check to see if you have all the other gauges.
Of course there is a easy way to do this if you have what I use which is FSPANEL STUDIO it is not free but worth every cent as it works with both FSX and the other variations of FLIGHT SIMULATOR as well

Here is the link for the demo version

Ok, here goes! I downloaded the updated bird, and ran it in FS9, for which it was originally written, I think, from this site. the guages, other than the basic flight instruments failed to function, as you say, and it wouldn't fly worth a darn. Lotsa smokin holes... :o
To make it work at all, I had to change the aircraft.cfg by adding in the entire Helicopter and engine sections from my (slightly! :D ) modified UH-60 from Hovercontrol. I can post them if you want...I then had to DL and install the panel upgrade from Flightsim. Having done that, I found all the guages blank. No indications, or even needles at all, 2d or 3d cockpits. Turned out their XML guage folder was empty, so I copied all the guages from the original aircraft's xml folder into it, and LO! All the guages, except the fuel guage, now work as advertized.
I also found that to get it up, so to speak, the fuel control levers need to be in DIR and the power levers in FLY. it does seem to matter. You also must reset ever possible breaker on all 3 breaker panesl, 2 between the seats even with the pilots, in the VC cockpit, and one on the overhead panel. I apologise for improer names here....if the breaker will actualte, and not all will, Lclick it once to push it in, once again to let it pop out to operational postion. I am guessing out=on here...there are a bunch too.
After all this, it fly very politely and nicely, altho it is, as the POH specifies, a lady, and must be handled delicately! :!: Esspecially during transition to and from the hover and IN the hover even more so.

Your realism should be set to HARD, and your controller sensitivities should be set to 99% sensitivity, NOT 100%! with 0 null zones, unless your joystick requires them due to loose springs, age etc. I will work on an HTRv1.5 config for it if you like and will also work on getting the AFCS and fuel guages functional. They included a picture of the AFCS, but no AFCS. Their "AFCS" is just a copy of HC075DI_AFCP_UPDATE.zip available on Hovercontrol, flightsim, and avsim, possibly here too, altho I ran out of time to verify...

Ok, time to take the lovely wife out to lunch, I don't know if any of this is at all useful, but I tried...
Pat☺

garymbuska / PhantomTweak: thanks for the advice. It's obvious this is going to take some time - and concentration - but I will definitely work on both your ideas. It was a great helicopter to fly RW for all those years and it would be nice to once again have a flyable one in the hangar. I'll let you know how it goes.
