Autopilot in Virtavia H-60 Blackhawk

Postby Blackfra » Sun Apr 13, 2014 1:16 pm

Hello guys!
Some days ago, I bought the Virtavia H-60 Blackhawk. I don't like it, because its controls are not good, but between the reviews I read that the autopilot only works "up to 60 knots forward speed". So, I looked for the autopilot, but I didn't find it. I would like to ask if someone has this software and knows where is the autopilot, thanks :D

Welcome in here, Blackfra ;)

I dont have the H-60 so i cant help you. Maybe others can.
If there aint anything on the panel or by pressing shift 1, 2 aso, you might be able to add a Radio Stack with AP in the panel.cfg [windowXX], ex the Bendix King Stack.

Just a thought.

Try SHFT+9. That should be the AP for the HH-60.

Oh, definately not! It can be the AP window for any chopper with 8 other windows available. My ....ahem...SLIGHTLY modified MD500 uses shft+9, as does my, again, slightly modified 206B III. I like to tinker, add windows and so on. it's fun :) SH-60, HH-60, JH-60, HH-70, 412, etc etc Most of my choppers use shft+9. I like to keep windows the same across platforms to make it easier to add new stuff to a new bird.

Anyway, point is, designers can make any window number any panel they choose. They could as easily have made shft+9 the radio stack and shft+2 the AP. Seems like most designers stick to Shfy+2 for the radio and shft+3 for the GPS, etc etc. Makes life easier for us tyro panel breakers....errrr....tinkerers! :lol:

Any more questions, feel free to ask!

Well, i dont know who you're asking, but here is the way with Bendix King

Image

Pay attention to the window number under [Window Titles] (here it is Window01 and that means Shift+2)
then the Radio Stack must have the same number [Window01]. This is crusial!!

You can put the stack in on the next free window number, just remember they need to be the same.

I dont have the H-60, so i dont know how its built by Virtavia.

If the (Default Beech Baron 58) Bendix-King Radio Stack is fitted, this entry will also be required in the "aircraft.cfg" file to get the radio to work:...>>>

[Radios]
// Radio Type = availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope
Audio.1 = 1
Com.1 = 1, 1
Com.2 = 1, 1
Nav.1 = 1, 1, 1
Nav.2 = 1, 1, 0
Adf.1 = 1
Transponder.1 = 1
Marker.1 = 1

Paul... I love my B-K Radios!... :mrgreen: ...!

I fit the Bendix King Radio Stack in all my Aircraft, if not already fitted!

Make sure these entries appear under......Autopilot...in the aircraft.cfg file>>>

[autopilot]
autopilot_available= 1
flight_director_available= 1

...etc...etc....

Paul.

!Have a read through the aircraft.cfg file for the default Beech Baron 58, to see how it all works!

Hi,

there seems to be a slight missunderstanding, the normal Bendix-King autopilot does not work for choppers! You have to use a special helicopter autopliot!

I know of three possible freeware solutions:

1. rcbhhc22 by Rob Barendregt, which gives you a very basic autopilot functionality.
2. FS Pilot (ex-payware) which gives you a very comprehensive autopilot, that should work with any aircraft.
3. Helicopter Autopilot by Antti Pankonen und Dirk Fassbender.

I use the Helicopter Autopilot in almost every Chopper, it has all the functions of a Bendix-King plus some chopper specific, like auto-hover and terrain following. You can get it at hovercontrol under the filename: HC075DI_FSX_COUGAR_AUTOPILOT or search for autopilot.

One last remark: Helicopters don't use the normal FS autopilot and therefore the autopilot settings in the aircraft cfg should be:

[autopilot]
autopilot_available=0
flight_director_available=0

setting them to "1" tries to activate the FS autopliot, which could lead to some confusions for the sim, if you use one of the other solutions.

I hope, I could help You

...now there's silly old me thinking it was a proper aeroplane, with a fan (or two) in the front....

..not one of those daft things with a fan on the top!..... :shock: ....!

..... :lol: ...!

I can see now why a normal fixed wing Autopilot might not work in a conventional Helicopter?.....

..although, having said that, the Bendix-King full radio stack and autopilot, works fine in my various Gyrocopters/Gyroplanes (Bensen/Barnett/Xenon/Wallis).... :dance: ....!
