slow loading FSX

slow loading FSX

Postby biggles58 » Mon Mar 17, 2014 6:51 pm

I am having issues loading FSX all of a sudden. I get to around 69% of the "loading scenery" etc then it slows and has been taking 25 minutes to finish loading! I have taken out a lot of scenery I really don`t use from the add-on file and a lot of aircraft I don`t usually fly now - but still the same. Anyone have a similar issue or a solution?

Thanks

Hi Biggles, only just noticed this post, but I'm having similar problems,
I put it down to having too much stuff installed, which might well be the case, but I'd go for Aircraft over Scenery or
as mentioned a lot when I first started with FS9...

"duplicate AFCAD (AF2..etx, plane route) files and/or empty (scenery?..maybe) texture(!..for certain) folders"

I deleted my FSX.cfg
C:\Users\*..username..*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.cfg

This helped, but whilst not having an answer, I recommend this at least. But I still get slow loading..but 25 minutes? I assuming you exaggerate a little?
Anyhoo, I do recommend deleting the FSX.cfg (putting back in, any adjustments you want, bit-by-bit)
It certainly won't hurt

Why delete it just rename it to fsx.bak then you can copy over the extras. A lot easier if you ask me. <<u

G'day Biggles,
I had this exact same problem about six months ago and l went crazy rearranging scenery and aircraft addons to no avail. Finally saw a post on a web site that fixed my problem. I had loaded a few FS9 airports that were compatible with FSX, but they also had AI flight plans as well. I deleted the FS9 AI flight plans and peace was restored to the world. Apparently FSX throws a dummy spit if FS9 AI is detected.
Cheers,

Thanks for the replies guys - actually 25 minutes wasn`t exaggerated as I timed it! Anyway I uninstalled some scenery which seems to have been causing the issue as its back on track again :)
