Trim gauge for FSX addon aircraft

Can anyone suggest a trim gauge for FSX addon aircraft? In FS9 it was possible to alias a trim gauge from the Aerosoft Beaver, but this does not appear to be possible in FSX. Many thanks for any suggestions. Lysander77

Most of the FSX aircraft have both fine-trim elevator gauges, and fine-trim aileron gauges on their 2D and VC panels. which can be rotated using the keyboard and the mouse.
The FSX aircraft will also have the main trim gauge....(using keys 7 and 1)

They will be listed in the FSX Gauges Folder.

Paul....FS Panel Studio to add gauges... ...!

Dear Fozzer:
Many thanks for the tips. I'll look into them promptly. Perhaps it will be possible to alias one of these gauges into the addon aircraft I'm using. Your prompt and helpful response is much appreciated!

You are very welcome.. :D ...

If you regularly modify aircraft panels (like me!), FS Panel Studio is worth its weight in gold to pick and drop gauges..no programming knowledge necessary!
(Note: it only works for the 2D panels...the VC panels are part on the original model, and cant be modified)

Paul......Gauge Tinkler... :D ....!

Ummm.....Not one to quibble (much) but I modify VC panels all the time. Trick with them is to remove and replace one guage with another. Say a clock with an ADI or fuel tank indicator...Size and placement numbers can be a triffle tricky sometimes, given the way sizing is done, but it can be done.

By the same token, I do NOT use any panel editor other than Notepad, which may be the trick, I dunno...

Fantastic info available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526956.aspx which is the MSDevelopers page on Panels. They have ones for Aircraft.CFG files and how-to for XML guages. Just a matter of slogging thru the info to glean the nuggets of what you need is all :D

Hope this helps matters a tad 8-)

Oh yeah, the file Whazzup.zip over on Avsim is a fantastic digital trim guage for all 3 axes, with electric power and reset indicators. Really a handy item for ANY aircraft....

Good flying to all!

This is true but Flight panel studio is ideal for people that have no clue or idea as to how everything works in a panel and this program is so easy that a cave man can use it  Sorry I could not resist that one.
Like you said people who are proficient with panel designs do not need something like this. But for the average user this is the tool you need the best part about it is you see the actual panel FS will use and all you have to do is drag and drop it does not get any easier than that.
You do not have to worry about coordinates are any thing.
Using just a cfg file editor one has to know the coordinates of where the gauge needs to be and this can be tricky for new comers as there can be a lot of trial and error and others who have no idea as to how a panel works

I must admit that one of my great(est) delights in the Flight Sims, is modifying the various control panels in my favourite aircraft, by adding all sorts of interesting and really useful gauges, and moving them around....

...So.... for me.... "FS Panel Studio" has been the best invention since the invention of the sit-on, Petrol Lawn Mower....

...especially when the grass in the garden need cutting, in the early Spring... ;) ..!

For "Happy Gauge Twiddlers" (like me) it should be top of their list of Flight Sim necessities... :D ...!

With it installed (CD version)...(FS Panel Studio, not a Ride-on Petrol Lawn Mower!)...all your gauge problems will be eliminated in a flash...

....trust me... ;)

Paul....Just waiting for Spring to arrive, and the grass to grow... ...!

Go on..... You know you want to/need it......>>> http://www.fspanelstudio.com/

PS..Can be used for CFS, CFS2, FS 2000, FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX!

Many thanks to everyone for the prompt and helpful suggestions and advice. I'll try everything: FS Panel Studio, some tweaking from "FS Tips and Tricks" and whatever else turns up. The Aerosoft Lysander I'm flying has ideal trim - you can see the elevator surface move (it's even got marking that indicate takeoff position, etc.) the cockpit trim wheel turns, and the aircraft responds perfectly. But without a gauge it's difficult to know the degree of trim achieved. Hence my inquiry.
I cannot thank you enough for all this consideration and the satisfaction it will add to flying in FSX.
Diolch yn fawr,
