No matter what I do I cant get planes into Flight simulator X . I have IZARC . I downloaded the plane with panel sound texture . Went to Flight Simulator / Sim Objects/ Airplanes , left it on the desktop shrunk it half page , opened up IZARC with southwest 737-800 with panel sound texture . tried to drag and drop into the file ,copy and paste . but it says I cant creat a file there then when I drag and drop it goes in ,but doesn't show up in liveries . I am not familiar with that program I know it is just a unzip program. But what I do not know is exactly how it deals with them.
By that I mean does it keep the folder integrity. The other problem here is what did you download and from where. Are you sure the file you downloaded does not have its own install program as some do.
Depending on how the unzip program unzips the file is how you will need to install it.
Creating new aircraft is not that difficult but you have to make sure things are in the right place.
If you look at any of the default aircraft you will notice there are several folders for each aircraft and it is important to put the right files in the correct folder.
Give us a little more info so we can help you out

I thought of one file that you must have in order for a aircraft to show up in FSX and that is the aircraft cfg file this file is usually located in the main aircraft folder.
One other thing you have to make sure this is not a AI aircraft as they usually do not show up as a aircraft that you can fly, and trust me you do not want to as most AI aircraft were never designed to be flown by the user.
When I get home later today I can send you a complete list of the folders and files you need to have in order to see any aircraft and be able to fly it.

Its a shame that the old FSX, FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) no longer works, at the top of the Forum!

All the answers to these various questions could always be found there!

Time to re-insert them again?

Grumpy doesn't respond to emails . I mailed him thinking he could help ,no answer. panels, sound, texture and Plane 737-800 that's what I was told . I have IZARC . I printed out and followed the instructions to the letter . downloaded the plane file, unzipped it to a folder in IZARC had 2 windows up , one with the IZARC file , one with the aircraft 737-800 . tried a copy and paste and tried a drag and drop , looked like it went, then checked livery and nothing . I have administer rights .

Glad you figured it out. 8-)

You must have used an old email address. Grumpy (aka Hagar) still responds to cries for help even if he doesn't know the answer. The Installation tutorial posted in the Help section should tell you all you need to know. I would have posted here if I thought I could add anything.

It's getting more difficult to give anything but general advice these days as there are too many possible variables.

FAQ's....

When I click on that link I just get various old Forum "Discussion" Threads on the subjects.

I believe the original FAQ was done by Dave (Fly2e), which consisted of a list, in large red text, of common questions, each containing the direct answers to the questions, with examples!...
...(and not needing any replies to them).

Maybe they were lost with a Forum update?

I think there was a similar one in the Multiplayer Forum, done by Shane?

Some of the old, very useful FAQ's, and their direct answers (for newcomers), seem to have disappeared now?

Paul.

I think it was still just forum threads that included lot's of posts --

(I think this was it -- but some of the FAQ's were mysteriously removed) - but as you will see it's mostly the same as what we have now
One day someone (I never found out who) deleted a lot of them ---- & I had to rebuild the list ...

But whenever I see a question that should be in the FAQ I add it.

Ta, Pete...

You see what I mean... ;) ...!

A set of fixed, common FAQ's, covering just the answers, would be ideal for newcomers....

...providing that they bother to read them beforehand!... :D ...!

Paul.

I spoke too soon ,no sounds so I downloaded sounds and now they wont go in . Downloaded /extracted / copy and paste , drag and drop / when I originally clicked on sounds it say no sounds, you have to get your own, so I did and here I am again. I don't know why would you make anything without sounds ????? :?

I have no idea what you're doing wrong. If you tell us which aircraft you're trying to install - file name, description and/or a link to the page it's posted on - perhaps someone can download it & check it out for you.

You have to make a entry in the sound cfg file in order for it to work.
The sound cfg dile is in the sound folder of the aircraft you want to add the sound file. Every sound a aircraft makes comes from this section so just putting a sound file in the sound folder is not enough you have to let fsx know where it is at by making a entry in the sound cfg file so FSX knows what file to use for this sound.
