Was flying along nice and fine when FSX Gold just stopped responding and the monitor went to my desktop picture. Any idea what happened? Cleaned computer last week. All temps within normal range according to CPUID.

Sounds like it may be a corrupt file.

Was the plane a standard FSX plane?

If yes use a different plane. Crash?

If crash, try another location to fly in.

If crash, run the FSX install. It'll ask if you want to "repair" or uninstall.

All I can tell from choosing repair is that it reinstalls the standard files. I did it last week. None of my add-ons were changed. The one file that I had edited without backing up was restored.

"IF" it keeps doing it, I'd definetly check your power supply, just to be sure, I'm talking about the Power Supply inside your computer case, NOT from the wall outlet.

I had 1 one time have a short in it,, that when it get a little heated, it shut down,,which also conflicted with my high end graphics video card as well,,,as the video card needed power from the power supply,,,

If its only happen that one time, i would not be worried. Many of us have seen that from time to time. A pc restart might help.
First i would check the program log files in Administrate Tools to see, if there's a fault log with an error id.

Thanks to those who responded. This the first and only time this has happened. I was flying the default C-172 around the Solomon Islands. Never had any trouble with these before. Will check my error files to see what shows up. Thanks.

Always remember, its a "Computer"...and they have minds all of their own... ;) ...!

I just whistle a happy tune, and re-set the computer again.

Like Jetranger said, one crash, don't worry.

It's interesting to note that Microsoft does have a recovery routine built into every version of Windows. :D

Check your event viewer that is where you will find out what happened.
Other question is your computer on a battery back up if not you might want to think about getting one they are not that expensive and can mean the difference between a working computer and a fried one due to a voltage surge.
I hope it is at least on a good surge protector if not get one.

Checked my event viewer and no errors. Flew the same simulation today and went off without a hitch. Hopefully just a one time deal.

It just so happens that I have a similar problem as well. A few weeks ago, I was doing a flight from Tokyo-Atlanta in a Delta Airlines Boeing 777-200ER and when I was over halfway to my destination, my flight simulator would become unresponsive every few minutes. At first, I had a suspicion that my flight plan files might have been corrupted, so I had to delete all my saved work. Later, I did a flight from Atlanta-Montego Bay, and had the same problem, although not as bad as the first. So that being said, I have had this problem for the past few weeks. It started the week of November 18-24, and since then, I have been trying to come up with a solution that might solve it, unless this is just one of those "occasional" minor glitches that will eventually correct itself.

Regards to anybody who is having this same issue. <<v :P
