Thanks to all who offer advise.

I think I can finally start to enjoy flying again.

I was reading info from IS3 folks and they suggested loading FSX into a seperate file, rather than the programs system.

They seem to think that it will be less troublesome.

Does anyone agree with this way of thinking.

If you are using win 7 or i believe win 8, than yes, they tend to be rather overprotective of anything in programes files, and this can lead to some addons not getting the correct permissions so they dont work. Best place is on a separate drive with own partition, doesnt get so fragmented that way either

Windows 7:

I recently re-installed my FS 2004 directly onto my C drive to avoid the annoying; "permission" problems....

..but my FSX (and IS3, etc) is installed in the default "Program Files".... :( ...., and gives me no problems, providing that if I decide to change a file, etc, I drag it onto the desktop, change it, and then drag it back to its original location again.....the disadvantage of using "Program Files"!

It generally appears to be better to install our Flight Sim programs in a different location to "Program Files" to avoid ongoing problems!

If I can remember, there were no such problems with the lovely-old Windows XP.. ;)....!

As you can see by my signature I am using Windows 8 I have FSX installed on one hard drive and FS20004 on a different hard drive Neither one are on my C or main drive and I have had no problems at all.
It is a permissions issue problem. I am not sure why M$ did this but it all started with windows 7.
As I had stated in a different post for reasons unknown to me I discovered that Windows 8 had made the FSX cfg file a read only file. Others say it is because I do not have administrator rights. But that is not the case I have full administrator rights. As I said I have no idea as to why it did this all I know is that it did. Who knows maybe it was a glitch and was not supposed to do that. It is not that important all I had to do was to un check the read only box.
