Hi all,

I have the TDS 787-8 Dreamliner installed and having recently flown Manchester UK to Cancun Mexico I thought I would have a go at same flight on FSX.

OK, FSX flight planner used and tweaked to be close to actual flight path.

I am now just some 660 miles from Cancun and all the switches and gauges that are 'clickable' are no longer working.
I cannot switch airspeed to mach/knts etc. Attitude and nav MFD's not enlarging by clicking on them, neither is the engine MFD enlarging.

Every single switch/button/gauge that was working by mouse is no longer, if I switch to ordinary 2d cockpit they are working fine, on 2d with airspeed set to
mach instead of knots because of my height it switches to mach setting, if i then go to vc it's still showing knots and not the 0.85 mach speed I'm using.

Note that this is only affecting main instruments, such as the upper mid panel, landing etc are working fine, I can click on the them and they are toggling OK.

I don't know were the problem is and even where to start to try and fix it.

Any advice welcome.

I will have some corrections in the near future for the textures for the Thomson dream(liner, the one depicted in this package, 'Alfie' was the one we flew on
I I have some corrections and additions in mind to upload.

What I would do, in a case like that, would be to re-load the same aircraft again, mid-flight, to correct any possible problems?

Currently looking for a good Free! dds texture file editor.
I've downloaded the one from paint.net to try.

Ok, here's the latest: during my dinner time fix at wrk loaded up the save and all ok, about 15mins later same thing, nothing switchable.
loaded same aircraft same problem.
Did a save and restarted, same thing.
Loaded previous save as my first line above and vc ok again, this was a bonus as I'd made a 'right pigs ear' of my turns at the south west end of cuba

You can edit DDS textures with your favourite graphics editor in the usual way. Paint.NET is a popular one. Convert the textures before & after editing with DXTBmp. http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm

did you try the Left click of the mouse?

some commands switches work diferent than FSX regular switches
left click it will increase and right to decrease or On and off, try and see if that works

Hi Alex,

The VC cockpit ( I think it's a version of your 737-800 advanced VC) was working fine, no problems at all.
I'm using a RAT7 mouse to control height/speed/heading and decent/ascent rate.

What I noticed upon loading my save was that the indicated airspeed was wrong, speed selector was set mach but setting was 1.71 hence engines in the red. I clicked on the CO button to change from mach to knts and compared it with speed ribbon on the left MFD which was currently set to Attitude display. I tried to reset it back to mach and it wouldn't change, I tried other switches that wouldn't cause me problems at the height speed I was at and nothing worked.
I switched to 2d panel and reset the speed ok at mach 0.85. as I've already mentioned, on returning to the VC it was as before, nothing switchable working.

I tried re-loading the dreamliner and still same problem, so I loaded the 737-800, now I had a problem as I was flying the dreamliner normally but that was outside the 737's normal envelope, so i had too much drag at too high altitude with autopilot height set.
I changed back to 787-8 and it eventually settled down ( after a bit of ATC nagging at me) but this time the airspeed heading height and VSI selector were blank, after several seconds I thought power! avionics off somewhere, so I recycled the generator and battery switches and back on came the displays but still none of the switches/levers would work

Now although I've been around flight sims for many years (since sims started on pc's)I've never played around with installing panels/gauges etc, I'm thinking of copying the 737-800 VC over to the dreamliner, or reinstalling the 787, just not certain which path to go down.

I would suggest reverting to my trusty, highly reliable, Cessna 150 Aerobat, Steve....

..just take an extra can or two of AVGAS, some plastic tubing and a small pump, for those trans-Atlantic flights..

Curios Question By any chance is your battery still on and you for got to turn on the generators????
If your battery is left on it can and will die and this can cause some instruments to stop working.
I use the commands Shift B to turn off/on the battery and Shift G to turn off/on the generators with.

...and don't forget to keep that Pitot Tube nice and warm and toasty, or lots of things wont work!

See my post above about recycling the battery/gen switches, I didn't think about it till todays session.

But, it's only not working in the VC mode, 2d cockpit is fine.
If I display the other panels with shift 4,5 etc, the switches on there work fine, if it had been a power problem and it did seem that to me (eventually!) I would have expected the 2d panels to not work either.

The situation with the VC has gone from switches/levels/knobs not working to them not working plus the numerical displays being OFF.

I'll recheck switches again but certain checked I've em all, I'm a bit limited with time at home just now, other jobs to do, may have to wait till dinner time again.

Sorry about that That is a little strange. Now this is going to sound strange but are the windows in your aircraft cfg file numbered correctly. I have seen strange things happen when the windows are not defined in the proper order by that I mean window 2 follows window 1 not 3 or any other number.
If that is not the case you got me. I hope you figure it out probably something staring you right in the face and when you spot it you want to kick yourself for not seeing before. That is what usually happens to me

Let me just say something I'd not mentioned before, I was around 7 hours into this flight before the problem appeared. Even if switches for battery and gens where reversed in function for some reason, I'd not expect the battery to run the systems that long.

I'll reply again if I see what's going wrong or what I'm doing wrong.

After being unable to see anything obvious, I've editted the panel.cfg to 'tidy' it up and then I've loaded up the TDS 787-8 and everything working, loaded an early save making sure that gens are on and battery off etc, switched between gen 1 and 2 and that panel is on drawing current. So when it comes to me being back around the Cuba area, lets see what happens.

@hager, I've installed DXTbmp and it appears OK. I'l tweak the texture, I took a decent side view of 'Alfie' with it on the 'tug' being pulled across to our gate, so I'll use that photo and correct the textures. The dreamliner I've installed this time that I'm having trouble with, is the third one down when you search for Thomson, it will show ricardo.tv across the graphics, this should be the G-TUIB 'Alfie' dreamliner. It's a mega pack file for looaads of airlines in one package.
