Downloaded and installed the tutorial Optimizing your Computer for FS, opened Task Mgr as instructed right clicked on FSX.EXE to get to go to process to Set Affinity but was denied access. Running FSX as Administrator. Any idea as to why I couldn't get access. Thanks.

The only way that I know of setting the affinity mask is through fsx.cfg, look here - 10: fsx.CFG – AffinityMask.

Where are you getting the instructions/tutorial?

BTW - setting the affinity mask works very well.

I just checked. I have no problems.

Right click on the FSX folder unders USERS/UserName/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft. Select Properties then Security. Add your account, if it's not already there, and give it full permissions by putting a check mark under "Allow" and to the right of "Full Control". SAVE, SAVE.

Do the same for the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" folder if it's under Program Files (x86).

I'm pretty sure that's how I resolved the problem.

Thanks, got in and yes it does work really good. Also installed TMLE (Texture Max Load Edition ) and reset FSX maximum texture resolution from 1024x1024 to 2048x2048. Made a real difference.
