Yaw Controls

Hello all,

My biggest problem with flight simulator has always been my inability to accurately control yaw; I am wondering whether there is a way to set my rudder left, rudder right controls to one button each that can be pressed to apply rudder and then released to return the rudder to neutral? The way I have it now, I will input rudder control and it will jump quite a few notches one way, and then to counteract it I have to hit rudder the other way a number of times guessing the point at which I have returned to neutral. If anyone could provide some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Darryl

P.S. I'm using a Logitech Attack 3 joystick, it's kind of outdated so there is no control surface specifically designed for yaw.

The problem here is unless there is an assignment for this the only way that you might make this work is you have to have the paid version of FSUIPC this will allow you to make new assignments but there is no guarantee that it will work the way you want it to.
I use a Cessna yoke by Saitek and it does not have a yaw control either.
I am able to define all kinds of functions with my yoke, I can even answer ATC with the push of a button by assigning the number 1 and number two keys to a button and NO I do not have the paid version of FSUIPC. This comes with a profile editor that allows me to do pretty much what ever I want providing that there is a assignment for that function and I am not sure if the yaw or trim has an assignment.
There are others here that use the paid version of FSUIPC that should be able to tell you if this is possible.
The only other way you might be able to do this would be to edit the actual gauge that is used and the only way I know of doing this is with a gauge editor.
There is an paid program out there that will allow you to edit existing gauges and even make a new gauge it is called FSPANEL STUDIO.
It works with both FSX and FS2004 and is able to edit xml files. The best part of this program is you do not need to have any experience to use it as it is very user friendly. Below is the link

There is a way and it's rather simple. However you need three free buttons to make it work. I take it your joystick can't turn on it's vertical axis? If not, go to controls --> assignments. Assign a button to rudder yaw left, assign another button to rudder yaw right (put the repeat action slider halfway). Then assign a button to Centre all flight controls. This will center your rudder with the push of a button.

In case you do not have any free buttons on your joystick, the easiest way is to assign your left and right arrow buttons on your keyboard for rudder yaw. Use the arrow up for Centre all flight controls.

Goodluck.
