I have a big collection of aircraft in FSX but the thumbs are all wrong in the select aircraft menu. Is there a solution to this?

You have a plane that doesn't have one. Find the plane and go into the aircraft folder and then save any picture in that texture folder as thumbnail.bmp and it should come up

You could also start fsx, open up the missing thumb plane and then take a pic of your choise by pressing "v", then rename it as pete said.

Hi Striker,
It's not a .bmp file but a .jpg graphic
there was a utility on here that would do the thumbnail for you in the fsx/utilities download section, presume it's still there.
To Check where thumbnails are missing: your on fsx, goto your folder where fsx is installed, in the search box you could put thumbnail.jpg and windows will display the names of all the jpgfiles installed. To make it quicker navigate to your simobjects folder and you'll only get jpg's then that are associated with your aircraft. Iif you then compare that search result with what aircraft you have installed you should easily see which is missing.
If you know some simple dos commands you could do the same in a dos window and direct the result to a txt file to examine.
Here's hoping you can understand what I mean and there are several ways of doing some of these procedures.
open up 'my computer'
navigate to the folder where the fsx is installed, open the simobjects folder.
Start a new command prompt window (dos) (start menu/programs/accessories/command prompt)
go back to the simobjects folder and click on the address bar, highlight the addess so it turns blue, right click and select Copy.
Go back to the dos window type the letters cd then right click on the c:\ icon at top left, goto edit and select paste, this should
pasted the address where simobject are. press your enter/return key. The command prompt itself should change to your simobjects folder.
Next type in the following:
dir thumbnail.jpg /b/s > jpglist.txt
press enter
a few seconds later, go back to the simobjects folders and at the bottom should be a .txt file, open this and it will show you all the thumbnail you have and which aircraft they are against.
It's just a long slog then of finding which one is missing.
I bet an aircraft checker/editor could find it much quicker tho.
regards
Steve.

Thumbnail creator here
http://simviation.com/1/download?file=A ... leId=27672If you get the thumbnail.jpg list ok, whilst on the dos window
Type:
dir texture* /ad/s > texlist.txt
and that will give you a list with every aircraft folder with a texture folder.
compare the two lists as you should have a thumbnail for every texture folder.
I missed saying that the .txt file will be in your simobjects folder.

Steve
