Adding engine sounds

Does anyone have access to a Youtube video or instructional literature about how to replace default engine sound effects with add-on sound? I've searched YouTube and Google, and all I've been able to see is people showing off how cool their jet sounds now, but no instruction on how to install the new sound. I would just experiment, however I don't want to permanently destroy something as I am very green to script and things of the such that make my aircraft work properly.

Cheers,
Sam

Well...

..the quick and simple way for me, is to just replace the aircraft's "sound" folder with another one which I prefer, from another aircraft, or from a download, something which I do regularly.

Of course, if you want to create your own sounds, then that is another matter altogether.... ;) ...!

The Best way is like Fozzer says !!!

Tho, I wouldn't Delete the SOUND Folder entirely, ,, your better to Save the entire Sound folder for whichever Aircraft,,, into say your Pictures main folder or your Music Folder, someplace for safe keeping.

What I did was make a whole New FOLDER in my Pictures Library, and called the new folder - "FSX Sound Files".

then made more SUB Folders within that Folder, according to rather they were Jet Sounds or prop sounds !

So each folder has its own sub catergory

Example:

FSX Sound Files

Jet Sounds

Prop Sounds

Then just go to the Aircraft / Airplane, you want to SWAP Sounds with,,, DELETE the Sound folder that you don't like,,

find one from one of your OTHER aircraft / airplane you already have or from where ever,,,,

and Simply - COPY & PASTE it right into that 1 Aircraft main folder,, you want the sounds to accompany !!!

simple as - Passing Gas,, after ,, eating a Mexican Burrito' :D  :hand:

Hope that Helps !!!

That sounds a tad complicated to me.

I've checked out literally hundreds of 3rd party panels & sound packages* for all versions of MSFS over the last few years. The method I use is to rename the original Sound folder of the aircraft to something like Sound.0. Then paste the new Sound folder in to replace it. To revert to the original sound simply delete the replacement folder (or rename it Sound.1) & rename the Sound.0 folder back to Sound. Once you're familiar with the way FS aircraft are configured several different sounds can be tried by naming the folders Sound.1, Sound.2 etc. & editing Aircraft.cfg accordingly.

*Note: Most sound packages should be configured ready to install. They will consist of a number of .WAV files plus a Sound.cfg file in a folder named Sound. Check out the Sound folder of a default aircraft to see what it looks like.

As Hagar says.
Even some old cfs1 sound folders works!

sounds like a radial to me!

Thanks for the advice all, I'll definitely try each method and see which one works best for me. Everyone's weird, what may be complicated for one could be normal living for another.
