Tips to whom it may concern about some bug fixes game compatibility and Windows 8.

Flight Simulator X and Windows 8
1. Install as administrator;
2. Install SP1;
3. Install SP3;
4. Search and download from Internet this file: UIAutomationCore.dll;
5. Copy and paste UIAutomationCore.dll in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X or into where your FSX is installed;
6. Run the simulator. If you have any issue, run under compatibility mode choosing one of them until works without any issue.

FSPassengersX and Windows 8
1. First of all I assume that you already installed FSX like written above.
2. Install FSPassengersX as administrator;
3. Run FSX and try to run FSPassengersX as well;
4. If you cannot load aircraft (passengers and fuel), run FSX in Windows 7 compatibility mode and as administrator.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 and Windows 8
1. Install as administrator;
2. Download and install NFSHP_1000_to_1050 patch;
3. Run NFSHP. IF it crashes on “press any key”, do that:
4. Unplug your controller (gamepad, joystick, etc.);
5. Find and delete C:\Users\(...)\Documents\Criterion Games\Need for Speed(TM) Hot Pursuit\Save\Default\controls.NFS11Save;
6. Plug your controller again and run NFSHP.

I hope I have helped.

Thanks for your help with win8 FSX installs. Mine seems to run ok however when I try to save an edited cfg file using notepad I get an error message telling me ACCESS DENIED with a suggestion that I save to the documents folder!

Try this - save it to your desktop. Then copy it into the correct location.

You'll get 2 warnings. One asking if you want to over right the file (same name), and the other saying you'll need administrator privilege to copy it there.

I'm sure that there's a better way, but that works for me with Windows 7.

Thanks but managed to gain access by digging deeper into permissions in file properties.

If you are trying to edit the FSX CFG file Windows 8 makes it a read only file which you can change.

The other thing is that it is advised that you do not repeat DO NOT install FSX IN THE DEFAULT LOCATION with Windows 8 if you have no other drive but the one your OS is on it is best to make a folder that is not in the program file folder doing so can create problems.
